About fitted wardrobes in N18
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall where that suits the room. There’s no dusty gap on top and no awkward space at the ends. If you’re planning fitted wardrobes in N18, the first step is a design visit to measure up and discuss the design. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall and several odd pieces where one run of storage would do.
You will not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and it’s useful to have the room cleared beforehand, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days.
- You contact us with a short note about the room and the wardrobes you have in mind, including any slopes, windows or alcoves.
- We visit to measure the room and discuss the design.
- We send a written quote for the wardrobes.
- The wardrobes are made at our workshop.
- We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
What goes into your quote
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, and that is part of the price. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured.
Why householders in N18 choose us
- Made in our workshop, then fitted in your home
- Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
- Edges scribed to follow your walls
How to get a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

You will also find London Academy of Excellence Tottenham (0.6 miles south), No.8 Tottenham pub (0.8 miles south) and St Mary's Church (within half a mile north-east). Fitted wardrobes for homes across N18
Across N18, including Edmonton, Tottenham and Upper Edmonton, bedrooms come in every size. Each design uses the room’s own widths and height. Hanging, shelves and drawers inside are arranged around what you store.
In the N18 postcode district, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 31%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 24%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. 4 of the 6 places in N18 with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, according to Historic England’s data. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission.
Since August 2023, the Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London, and TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules, so we plan access to your home in N18 ahead of fitting day.
Upper Edmonton: Bruce Castle, about 1.1 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Percy House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
Before and after fitting day
New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:
- Think about where you’ll keep shoes, bags and folded clothes
- For a flat, measure the stairs, landings and lift
- In a leasehold flat, read the lease first
- Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then. Clear anything that falls into it.
Spread heavy items rather than piling them in one place. Rails and shelves are planned for normal use, so tell us at the measuring visit if you need to store something heavy.
Do you need fitted wardrobes?
Most people come to us because they’ve simply run out of space. Clothes end up on chairs, in boxes under the bed or in another room. Built-in wardrobes make use of the full wall, up to the ceiling.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- Wasted space beside the chimney breast
- Too little room for clothes
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed
- Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
What it is made from
Moisture-resistant MDF
With no grain to show through, MDF gives a calm painted finish. We use the moisture-resistant grade for fitted wardrobes.
Doors and drawer fronts
Hinged doors suit rooms with space in front. Sliding doors suit narrow rooms.
What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes
To work out the quote, we look at:
- Parking near your home
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
Rooms that aren’t square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it.
Before the design visit
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
- What the furniture needs to hold
To make a start, tell us about the room on our contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you get in touch.
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Can you build wardrobes around a bed?
Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. We plan it so the bed fits comfortably and the room still feels open.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
Both work well, depending on the space. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front. We’ll help you weigh them up when we visit.
Do you cover N18?
Yes. We work in N18 and across Enfield.
Can fitted wardrobes go on an external wall?
Yes, with ventilation planned in. External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we allow for airflow behind and inside the wardrobe, which helps avoid condensation.
How long are you in the house for fitting?
The fitting depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. The making happens in our workshop, so the time in your home is mostly fitting and finishing.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We’ll design around them.
Will you paint the walls around the furniture?
No. We make, fit and finish the furniture, and plastering and decorating are for other trades. The furniture itself is spray painted or hand painted.
