Walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham
About our walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham
A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. It can be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. Everything is made at our workshop and fitted to the room, scribed to the walls and set level. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about shelves for shoes and bags and a use for a small spare room.
Whether your home in Tottenham is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, the furniture starts from your room, not a standard size. External walls can be colder than internal ones, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation. Shelves, drawers and any hanging are arranged around your things.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Fitting day, step by step
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, then checked again. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift not just the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- First, you tell us about the space. A line on how you will use the room helps.
- We visit, measure and talk through hanging, shoe storage and a dressing table, planned around the way you get dressed.
- A written quote is sent to you.
- Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit everything in your home and check every door and drawer. Each unit is set level and scribed to the walls.
How to prepare
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way

Flats, blocks and rented homes
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it at the design visit.
If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
Bedroom storage in Tottenham
In the streets around Tottenham, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 39%) and the years since 2000 (about 19%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Tottenham is partly covered by the North Tottenham High Road, Tottenham High Road Hist Corr Conservation Area, one of the conservation areas recorded by Historic England. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. The council can confirm if you are not sure. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Haringey are set locally. Where a street in Tottenham is controlled, a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension from the council. We ask about parking at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
If you live in a period home close to Church of St Mary the Virgin, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. Bruce Castle, about 0.3 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Tower to South West of Bruce Castle, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.
Tottenham is part of the London Borough of Haringey. Anywhere in Tottenham, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. We cover places right across Haringey, large and small.
We make walk-in wardrobes across the N17, N15 and N18 postcode area for walk-in wardrobes. We cover homes on streets such as New Road, High Road and Reed Road, along with the roads around them, whether you want walk-in wardrobes or another piece made for the room. Tottenham sits close to the A10. If your home is on one of them, tell us at the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. If you’re just outside Tottenham, we also cover Broadwater Farm (1 mile west), Tottenham Hale (1 mile south-east), Tottenham Green (1 mile south), South Tottenham (1 mile south) and Seven Sisters (1 mile south). We also make walk-in wardrobes in nearby places such as Wood Green (2 miles west), Crouch End (3 miles south-west), Turnpike Lane (2 miles west), Finsbury Park (3 miles south-west), Bowes Park (2 miles west) and Bounds Green (3 miles west). Tottenham is among the bigger places we cover in Haringey.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
I live near Bruce Grove station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Haringey and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Tottenham?
Yes, we work across Haringey, Tottenham included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
That’s normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
Do photos help?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
In many cases, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window, so we work it out when we measure.
Does fitted furniture need planning permission?
Not typically. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Tottenham
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- How big the furniture is
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Getting in touch
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Your postcode and the borough
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
Practical tips
None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:
- Know what you’ll keep before planning
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Let air move through the space
- Talk to your electrician early about lighting
Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up. A spray finish gives a smooth surface that wipes clean.
Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.
