Bespoke kitchens in Wennington
Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Wennington
In many older homes, ready-made units struggle with lean and slope. Cabinets end up with gaps or tilted lines, and a bespoke kitchen is scribed and levelled to avoid that.
Requests we hear often include:
- A central island in a larger kitchen
- Cabinets built around the appliances you choose
- Extra cupboard space
- A kitchen for a room that is not square
If your home is one of the older houses near St Mary and St Peter's Church, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout.

About our bespoke kitchens in Wennington
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. Knowing the appliance sizes early lets us leave the right spaces, so everything fits as it should. Your quote sets out the materials and finish. If your home has cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls and spaces sized for your oven and fridge, kitchens made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
Where a back room and kitchen have been knocked together, a kitchen-diner may have a chimney breast at the dining end, which can frame a dresser or tall cupboards. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Wennington, that is a feature worth designing around. Any capped chimney stays ventilated.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

When you need someone else
Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Gas work, which is for a Gas Safe engineer
- Painting the walls around the kitchen
- Building work, like removing walls
If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

What affects the price in Wennington
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- The overall size of the piece
- The number of doors and drawers
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
Getting in touch
There’s no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Your postcode and the borough
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
Rough sizes are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, get in touch through our contact form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
Wennington homes and bespoke kitchens
About 47% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Wennington went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 22% between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Wennington, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary and St Peter (Grade II*), under half a mile west, and Lennard Arms Inn (Grade II), under half a mile east. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. About 37% of households in the streets around Wennington live in terraced houses, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. Terraced houses often have long, narrow kitchens, which suits cabinets made to the exact width.
If you live near Wildspace Conservation Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For a flat near Rainham (Essex) station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Questions we are often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Wennington?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Rainham (Essex) station?
Yes, homes across Havering and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will you connect the sink and appliances?
No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, a Gas Safe engineer handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, while we make and fit the cabinets.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A small galley and a large kitchen with a larder and island are very different jobs, so we quote once we’ve measured. To get started, use our contact form.
Is there room for an island in my kitchen?
If the room is big enough, yes. At the design visit we check the clearances around it, and suggest another layout if it would crowd the room.
How it is made
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home, once the kitchen is fitted. It’s easy to touch up later.
Larder and dresser units
A dresser pairs cupboards below with open shelves above, made to fit its wall.
How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
- The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout, where space allows.
- You receive a quote in writing.
- Everything is built in our workshop.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics. It’s useful to have those trades booked in good time.
Preparing the room
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
