Bespoke kitchens in Woodcote Green: what you get
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. Knowing the appliance sizes early lets us leave the right spaces, so everything fits as it should. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote. We make kitchens from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets and a larder for food and small appliances.
Islands only work where there is room to walk round them. Around Woodcote Green, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, and in an extended kitchen there may be space. The space around any island is measured during the design visit. Your plumber and electrician run any services to it.
A written quote follows the design visit. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. Ours are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray or hand painted, so the finish can be repainted later. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

How it is made
Plinths and scribe strips
In a period kitchen, where nothing is quite level, plinths and scribe strips do a lot of quiet work.
Moisture-resistant MDF
We use moisture-resistant MDF for many kitchen doors and panels, because it copes with a room that gets warm and steamy.
Fitting day, step by step
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it is fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room, and the sections are assembled in place.
- You tell us about the room and how you use it. Larders, dressers and islands can all be part of it, where space allows.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
- We send a written quote setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- Fitting day: we fit the cabinets, and your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe engineer handle the services. We do not arrange these trades ourselves.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
How to get a quote
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Advice
Is it time for bespoke kitchens?
An extension or a knocked-through room is a common starting point. A new room needs a kitchen planned for its shape and light, and building work itself is for your builder.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- A kitchen planned around your appliances
- A layout for a small or tricky room
- More storage in a small kitchen
- A larder for food and small appliances
For a family home near Wallington High School for Girls, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Will the quote be in writing?
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
- How parking will work on your street
- How they handle walls that are not straight
Honest limits
It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Wiring for appliances and lights
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Moving water or waste pipes
If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room. How it works.
Boards, parts and finishes
- Birch plywood
- Larders and dressers
- Islands where space allows
- Spray-painted finish
- Hand-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
Kitchens in Woodcote Green homes
About 44% of the homes in the area around Woodcote Green went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 21% between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Part of Woodcote Green is in a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Planning controls in conservation areas are mainly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitting furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. Controlled parking zones are common across London, and Sutton sets its own rules. Depending on your street in Woodcote Green, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a council bay suspension may be needed. We ask about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Living in a block of flats near Reedham (London) station? Then the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If you live near Carshalton Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Reedham (London) station?
Yes, homes across Sutton and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having bespoke kitchens fitted in Woodcote Green?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Do you do the plumbing and electrics?
No, those are jobs for other trades. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician, while we make and fit the cabinets.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
It is made in sections. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you.
