Bespoke kitchens in Sutton

We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. Knowing the appliance sizes early lets us leave the right spaces, from the oven housing to the dishwasher. Your quote sets out the materials and finish. Typical reasons to get in touch are a painted kitchen in a colour you choose and extra cupboard space; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Whether your home in Sutton is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, the kitchen starts from the room’s own measurements. The worktop, sink and appliances you choose are built into the design. Other trades do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

Made-to-measure kitchens in Sutton

About 25% of the homes in the area around Sutton went up between 1973 and 1999, and about 22% between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. The National Heritage List records 16 entries within half a mile of the centre of Sutton. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. About 51% of households in the neighbourhood around Sutton live in purpose-built flats, according to Census 2021. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.

If your home is one of the older houses near St Nicholas Church, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. For a family home near Robin Hood Junior School, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen. If you live near Manor Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

Sutton is one of London’s 33 local authority areas. From period terraces to newer flats in Sutton, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. We cover places right across the rest of London, large and small.

Postcode districts we cover here for bespoke kitchens: SM1, SM2, SM3 and SM7. Streets in the area include High Street, Manor Place and St Nicholas Way, and we cover homes on all of them for bespoke kitchens. Sutton sits close to the B2230. If your home is on one of them, tell us at the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. If you are just outside Sutton, we also cover Benhilton (1 mile north), Carshalton (1 mile east), Shanklin Village (1 mile south), St Helier (1 mile north) and Rosehill (1 mile north). We also make bespoke kitchens in nearby places such as Wallington (2 miles east), Bandonhill (3 miles east), Beddington (3 miles east), Roundshaw (3 miles east), Russell Hill (3 miles east) and Woodcote Green (3 miles south-east).

Where other trades come in

We design, make and fit the furniture. That means:

  • Wiring for appliances and lights
  • Knocking through or rebuilding walls
  • Painting the walls around the kitchen

  • Islands where space allows

From workshop to your room

You won’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and it’s useful to have the room cleared beforehand. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Before fitting day, we check the route in as well as the room, so kitchens arrive in sections that fit through. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. You receive a written quote for the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing, gas and electrics aren’t part of it: those are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician.
  4. The cabinets are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer.

How to prepare

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Advice

What it is made from

Spray-painted finish

Spray painting suits a kitchen that should look crisp, and it’s done before fitting.

Moisture-resistant MDF

For painted cabinet fronts, moisture-resistant MDF is our usual choice, because it stays flat.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:

  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • How big the furniture is

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.

Helping us understand the room

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters

To make a start, use our contact form and tell us which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Questions we’re often asked

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Sutton?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It is useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

My home in Sutton is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?

We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Kitchens are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

What are your kitchens made from?

MDF for smooth painted parts and birch plywood for drawer boxes and shelves. We spray paint in the workshop or hand paint, in colours agreed with you.

Will a bespoke kitchen suit my uneven floor?

Yes. We scribe each cabinet to the wall and set it level on adjustable feet or a plinth, so the worktop you choose can sit level. It’s one of the main reasons people choose bespoke in an older house.

Should I send pictures?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot. You can send them when you tell us about the room on our contact form.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A small galley and a large kitchen with a larder and island are very different jobs, so we quote once we have measured. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.
