Questions we’re often asked
I live near Reedham (London) station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Sutton and the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Woodcote Green?
Yes. We cover all of Sutton and the rest of London, and Woodcote Green is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some need consent for alterations. Your lease is something we cannot advise on, so check it or ask your managing agent.
Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?
Yes, it helps keep clothes fresh and damp away. We design the units to let air move, and any damp on the walls should be sorted before fitting.
Walk-in wardrobes in Woodcote Green
You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors give a tidy, finished look and help keep dust away, while open storage lets you see everything at once. The choice is yours, and we’ll go through it when we measure. Most enquiries start with a dressing area in part of a bedroom and room for a growing wardrobe, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
A good part of the housing around Woodcote Green is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Many 1930s houses have a small box room over the stairs, often with a raised bulkhead in the floor. The main bedroom may have a bay at the front and a chimney breast on the side wall.
If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

What prompts walk-in wardrobes in Woodcote Green
Others want a dressing table built in alongside the storage. We can design a dressing table into the room, close to the clothes and shoes.
A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:
- Proper shoe storage
- A dressing area in part of a bedroom
- Turning a box room into a dressing room
- More space for clothes and shoes
If you live in a period home close to St. Patrick's Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go.
What to check before you book
- How parking will work on your street
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?

Fitting day, step by step
The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.
- First, you tell us about the space and how you dress. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
- We come to measure the room and go through how the space should work, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
- We send a quote that sets out the layout, materials and finish.
- Everything is made and finished in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
How to get a quote
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Advice
Tips worth knowing
A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Let air move through the space
- Count your coats and long garments
- Think about whether you want doors
- Sort through your clothes before the design visit
New paintwork takes a while to harden after fitting. Go easy on painted surfaces at first, and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth.
Talk to your electrician early about lighting. Wiring is their work, not ours, and it is easier to plan the units around it from the start.
Could you do it yourself?
Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
Honest limits
Not everything around walk-in wardrobes is carpentry, from an electrician to a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Building a new partition wall
- New lights or sockets
- Damp treatment or repairs

We ask about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
For a family home near Wallington High School for Girls, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. If you live near Carshalton Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
