Fitted cupboards in North Harrow
About our fitted cupboards in North Harrow
We fit fitted cupboards in North Harrow and across London. We begin with a design visit to measure and go through the design, and then send you a quote. The cupboards are built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and your quote sets out the fitting days. If you are living with a linen cupboard on the landing and hiding meters and a fuse board neatly, that’s what fitted cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Much of the housing around North Harrow is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so we still scribe every piece to the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Flats, leases and landlords
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.

Boards, parts and paint
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting in the room lets the cupboards match the surrounding woodwork and is easy to refresh later.
Doors and drawer fronts
For meter cupboards, the doors or panels are designed for easy access, so engineers can reach what’s inside.
Caring for painted furniture
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:
- Check stairs, landings and doorways for access
- Give the paint time to cure fully
- Make a note of what needs a home
- Leave room in front of the meters
New paintwork takes a while to harden fully after fitting. At first, go easy on the doors and shelves and avoid heavy cleaning. In time, a damp cloth and a little mild soap keeps them clean.
If you live in a leasehold flat, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. We can’t advise on your lease, and it’s best done early.

Where a home in North Harrow is on or beside a main road, it’s useful to mention that at the measuring visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.

What happens on fitting day
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made at the measuring visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Interwar houses typically have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going, with floors protected throughout.
- You tell us where the cupboards should go.
- At the design visit we measure at several points, as walls and floors in older homes are rarely flat or level.
- A quote in writing follows.
- We make the cupboards in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day each cupboard is set level on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the wall.
- Your finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site; go gently with it at first while it cures.
Getting ready for fitting day
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
Getting a quote
It is useful to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space, especially with rough sizes. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.
Advice
Questions from North Harrow
Is parking a problem for fitting in North Harrow?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Is North Harrow in the area you cover for fitted cupboards?
Yes, we work across Harrow, North Harrow included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details.
How long does fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We’ll talk it through at the design visit.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
Can a fitted cupboard cover the meters and fuse board?
Yes. We can build a cupboard that hides them neatly and still leaves them reachable. We don’t move meters or fuse boards; that is for your supplier or an electrician.
What do fitted cupboards cost?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. A small boiler cupboard and a full run of hallway storage are very different jobs, so we price it after measuring. To get started, message us from the contact page.
