Fitted cupboards in Pinner Green: what you get
We make our cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, chosen for the job each part does. MDF is stable and takes paint well, while birch plywood is good for long shelves. We finish them by spray painting in the workshop or by hand painting, in a colour agreed with you. If you’re living with a boiler cupboard that keeps access clear and storage in a corner nothing else fits, that is what fitted cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Around Pinner Green, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing, and every piece is still scribed where it meets the wall. Each piece is levelled on site, so doors, lids and drawers line up.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Questions from Pinner Green
Does a conservation area in or near Pinner Green affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do you cover homes near Hatch End station?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room.
How long will the cupboards take to fit?
It depends on the job. The time the fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you’ll know before we start.
What happens during the design visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and talk through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too.
Will a fitted cupboard work on a sloping floor?
Yes. Each cupboard is trimmed to the shape of the wall and set it level on adjustable feet or a plinth. That’s one of the main reasons to choose fitted cupboards in an older house.
Can a fitted cupboard cover the meters and fuse board?
Yes, and we keep them easy to reach. Meter readers and engineers need to get to them, so the doors or panels are planned to open easily.

Fitted cupboards in Pinner Green: local notes
About 34% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Pinner Green went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 29% between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling may need listed building consent. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Pinner Green is covered by it. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.

Why bespoke in Pinner Green?
Off-the-shelf cupboards are quicker to get and normally cost less, and in a square room they can work well. In an older house with uneven walls, they tend to leave gaps. A fitted cupboard costs more but follows the room. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking during the design visit.
Why choose us
- Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement
- We visit, measure and discuss the design before we quote
- 300+ projects completed
- We work across all London boroughs
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is easy to buy.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.
How fitting day works
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is usually more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.

- At the design visit we plan the cupboards and check how the sections will get in.

- We bring the sections in and fit them, scribed to the walls.

Before and after fitting day
A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Measure the route into the room as well as the room
- Look at your lease before fixing to the walls
- Go easy on new doors for a while
- Point out anything that needs access
Once the cupboards are fitted, the paint needs time to cure fully. Treat the doors gently at first and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth only. In time, a damp cloth and a little mild soap keeps them clean.
Before the design visit, think about what will go in each cupboard. A coat cupboard and a linen cupboard need quite different insides, so it helps to know this early.
