Fitted Cupboards in Canons Park

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make fitted cupboards for homes in Canons Park, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • Storage for coats and shoes in the hallway
  • A cupboard for the meters with easy access
  • Tall cupboards where space is short

About our fitted cupboards in Canons Park

Utility rooms and boot rooms need storage that copes with everyday wear. Tall cupboards can take the vacuum cleaner, ironing board and cleaning things, with housing for a washing machine or tumble dryer where you want it. Your plumber connects the appliances and your electrician handles any sockets, and we leave room for their work in the design. If your home has landing shelves for bedding and towels and storage for coats and shoes in the hallway, that is what fitted cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

Around Canons Park, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. In a typical 1930s house, storage tends to hide in the bay, under the stairs and in the box room. Any meters or fuse boards that need to stay reachable are designed around.

Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Honest limits

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:

  • Moving or servicing a boiler
  • Moving gas or electricity meters

Common questions about fitted cupboards

Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Is Canons Park in the area you cover for fitted cupboards?

Yes, Canons Park is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Harrow and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.

What do fitted cupboards cost?

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Size, fittings and finish all affect the price. To arrange a design visit, use our contact form.

Can I send photos before the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

What happens when you come to measure?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a written quote.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

We plan the route in at the measuring visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and each section is made to a size that will get through.

Bespoke fitted cupboards or ready-made?

You can put together a flat-pack cupboard yourself, and that’s a real advantage. Ours takes more planning: a design visit, a quote, making and fitting, but it is built around your space. Standard widths rarely add up to the length of a real wall, which fitted furniture avoids. It can use the full height too.

Rooms that aren’t square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That’s reflected in the quote, which we write after seeing the room.

What prompts fitted cupboards in Canons Park

Some spaces are just hard to use. A recess beside a chimney breast, a gap at the end of a corridor or the space over a stair can all hold a cupboard that fits it exactly.

Fitted cupboards can help with:

  • Storage for towels and bedding
  • Tidying away the gas and electricity meters
  • Floor-to-ceiling storage in a flat
  • A cupboard for a recess or odd corner

If your children go to Camrose Primary With Nursery or a school nearby, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Where they’ll park and unload
  • How the furniture will be finished, and where
  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked

How we price fitted cupboards

Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

What to send when you get in touch

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling

A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, drop us a line using the contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

How fitting day works

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it is useful to have the room cleared beforehand, as we’ll have talked about during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. The pieces are levelled, fitted to the walls and fixed back.

  1. You get in touch and let us know where the cupboards should go. It might be a hallway, a landing, a utility or a boot room.
  2. We visit, take careful measurements and go through the design with you.
  3. You get a quote in writing for the cupboards we’ve agreed.
  4. The cupboards are built in our workshop, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cupboards in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. We check each door and shelf with you before we leave.
