Fitted wardrobes in Eastcote
FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Eastcote
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Eastcote?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
I live near Headstone Lane station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. Wardrobes can sit either side of the bed with a bridge of cupboards above. We plan it so the bed fits comfortably and the room still feels open.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We will also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a written quote.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us.
How long will the fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. We’ll explain what fitting day involves before we start.
How we make fitted wardrobes for Eastcote
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall where that suits the room. That leaves no gap above to gather dust and no wasted space at the sides. For a bedroom in Eastcote, the first step is a design visit to measure up and discuss the design. If you are living with not enough hanging space and condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
In a 1930s semi, the main bedroom often sits over the front room and its bay, so fitted storage normally goes on the walls either side while the bay stays open. Interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing around Eastcote, so that shape of room is worth knowing. Every wall is measured, as a room that looks square rarely is.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the fitted wardrobe we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish.

Fitting day, step by step
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know during the design visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- You let us know about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
- We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers, with your clothes in mind.
- A quote in writing follows. It lists what’s inside each wardrobe as well as the doors.
- Once you are happy, the wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We bring them to your home and fit them in place.
How to prepare
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
Getting a quote
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it. For a quote, use our contact form.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Eastcote
Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Parking and unloading on your street
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside.
What we need to know
A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Your postcode and the borough
- How you want to use the space
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit for you to look over. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.
Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Eastcote
Couples often want storage that works for two. A fitted wardrobe can be planned with separate sections, each with its own mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.
Most of the enquiries we get are about things like these:
- Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
- Not enough hanging space
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall
Living in a block of flats near Headstone Lane station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
What to check before you book
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Where they’ll park and unload
Where other trades come in
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
- Taking out a chimney breast to make space

Flats, leases and landlords
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the measuring visit.
