About our fitted wardrobes in Pinner
Hanging heights are planned around your clothes, not a catalogue. Long coats and dresses need one tall section, while shirts, jackets and folded trousers suit two rails, one above the other. We also think about who uses it, so the top rail is within comfortable reach. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are an awkward slope in a loft bedroom and too little room for clothes.
With interwar houses or semis a big part of the housing around Pinner, bedrooms are often simple shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. That makes a full wall of fitted furniture simple to plan, laid out around what you store. If the loft has been converted, sloping ceilings bring their own options.
You get the quote in writing, so there’s time to read it properly and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

The problems fitted wardrobes solve
Others simply want the room to feel calmer. A run of painted doors from wall to wall looks quieter than several separate pieces, and everything has a place behind it.
Fitted wardrobes can help with:
- A bedroom that never feels tidy
- An awkward slope in a loft bedroom
- Clothes with nowhere proper to go
- Too little room for clothes
For an older house near Christian Science Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.
Before you hire any carpenter
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
- Have they thought about parking near you?
Pinner homes and fitted wardrobes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 43% of the housing in the area around Pinner, with about 28% built between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Pinner, Historic England’s list includes Sweetmans Hall (Grade II*), under half a mile north-east, and Church of St John the Baptist (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, can need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. A quarter or more of the homes in the neighbourhood around Pinner (about 28%) were built between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Bedrooms from that era tend to be regular, so fitted furniture can run wall to wall, with fixings chosen for concrete, block or brick.
If you live near Eastcote House Gardens, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls. Headstone Manor, about 1.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.
Pinner is in the London Borough of Harrow, about 2 miles south-east of Harrow. From period terraces to newer flats in Pinner, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. We cover places right across Harrow.
Every home in HA5 is within our area for fitted wardrobes, from the main roads to the quieter streets. If your home is on a street such as Love Lane, Tudor Road and Marsh Road, or close by, we can visit to measure up for fitted wardrobes. If you are just outside Pinner, we also cover Pinner Green (1 mile north-west), Eastcote (1 mile south), North Harrow (1 mile south-east), Roxbourne (1 mile south) and Rayners Lane (2 miles south-east). We also make fitted wardrobes in nearby places such as Stanmore (4 miles east), Harrow Weald (2 miles east), Wealdstone (2 miles east), Little Stanmore (5 miles east), Greenhill (2 miles east) and South Harrow (3 miles south-east).
Around Pinner
The streets we cover here include those near The Oddfellows Arms, Pinner High School and Heathfield School and the streets around them. Pinner’s nearest station is Hatch End station, roughly 1.4 miles north-east of the centre. A little further out are Northwood and Pinner Cottage Hospital (1.3 miles north-west) and Heath Robinson Museum (less than half a mile south-east).
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Tips worth knowing
New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. Beyond that, these tips help:
- Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
- Plan any socket or switch changes with your electrician before fitting
- Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
- Let us know about the lift and stairs in your block
With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then so the doors run smoothly. Do not let shoes or bags sit in the track.
Spread heavy items rather than piling them in one place. Shelves and rails are sized for everyday loads.
Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You contact us with a few details about the room and the wardrobes you’d like, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
- We visit to measure up and plan the doors, rails, shelves and drawers with you. Hinged or sliding doors are part of that conversation.
- You receive a quote setting out the design and the paint finish.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors. The rails, shelves and drawers go in last.
Before we arrive
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
Getting a quote
We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, then send a quote in writing. Questions we are often asked
Do you cover homes near Hatch End station?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Will a conservation area stop me having fitted wardrobes fitted in Pinner?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
How long does it take to fit wardrobes?
It depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. The wardrobes are made at our workshop first before we come to fit them.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?
Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, particularly with rough sizes. You can send them when you fill in our short enquiry form.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors open a whole section at once but need room in front to swing. We talk through both at the measuring visit.
What we don’t do
It helps to know what’s outside our work before you plan:
- Structural changes to the room
- Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster
- Fixing the cause of condensation or damp
