We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:

  • Parking near your home
  • The internal fittings
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square

Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking at the design visit.

What to send when you get in touch

When you contact us, these help most:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Examples of the look you are after
  • How you want to use the space
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on

To get a quote for fitted wardrobes in Hounslow, drop us a line using the contact form. Let us know which room it is and roughly what you have in mind, with sizes if you have them. Next comes a design visit, followed by a written quote.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Hounslow

You can choose hinged or sliding doors. With hinged doors, you see a full section when you open them, though they need room in front to open. Sliding doors suit tighter rooms, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. We weigh them up with you during the design visit. We make fitted wardrobes from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the things people most often want solved are condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms.

The front bedroom in many 1920s and 1930s houses sits above a bay, which leaves the side walls for storage and the bay for light. Interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing around Hounslow, so that shape of room is worth knowing. Every wall is measured, as a room that looks square rarely is.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Fitting day, step by step

Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. To begin, message us from the contact page; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and plan the inside: long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. A quote in writing follows, listing the layout inside, the doors and the finish.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, which holds screws well for rails and runners.
  5. We fit the wardrobes in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.

Before fitting day

  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are

Arranging a design visit

You do not need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

Questions from Hounslow

Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Hounslow?

Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Do you cover homes near Sunbury station?

Yes, homes across London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Do photos help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough measurements. You can send them when you fill in our short enquiry form.

Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?

Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, and the wardrobe is put together in the room. Tell us if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.

What can go inside a fitted wardrobe?

We plan it with you at the design visit, starting from the clothes you have. Adjustable shelves keep some flexibility for later.

Can you come on a Saturday?

The problems fitted wardrobes solve

Couples often want storage that works for two. A fitted wardrobe can be planned with separate sections, each with its own mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.

If you recognise any of these, it is worth talking to us:

  • No space in front for doors to swing
  • Bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes
  • Wardrobes that are full to bursting
  • An tricky slope in a loft bedroom

For a flat near Sunbury station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Is it spray painted or hand painted?
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • A quote in writing that sets out the job

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: flat-pack is usually cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted wardrobes are fixed and fitted. Boards, parts and paint

Hand-painted finish

With hand painting, you see the colour in your own room’s light before the final coat. Scribed edges and joins are painted along with the rest.

Birch plywood

Birch plywood is stiff and grips screws firmly, so it is a good choice for carcasses, shelves and drawer boxes. You can paint the edge or leave the layers showing.
