Loft storage in Hounslow
Each eaves cupboard is built in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits drawer boxes and carcasses, while MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. It is then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Hounslow. Typical reasons to get in touch are a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe and boxes and suitcases with no home; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Hounslow, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.
The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the eaves cupboard we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

Fitting day, step by step
In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room, and the sections are assembled in place.
- It starts with a few details from you.
- We come to measure and talk through the design and finish.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- The storage is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and sprayed there if you chose a spray finish.
- The storage is fitted and scribed to the slopes, and any hand painting is done on site.
- Fresh paint needs time to cure, so use the doors and drawers gently at first.
Before fitting day
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
Starting with a design visit
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

What affects the price in Hounslow
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- How big the furniture is
- The number of doors and drawers
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.
What to send when you get in touch
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- Approximate measurements of the space
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. A written quote follows the visit. To arrange the visit, use our contact form.
Practical tips
A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
- Tell us about parking at the design visit
- Count the clothes you’ll need to hang
- Check the route up to the loft
When we’ve finished fitting, the cupboards and drawers are ready. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Avoid sticky tape, heavy knocks and harsh cleaners while it hardens.
Keep sharp or very heavy items away from the painted fronts. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.
Fitted storage in Hounslow
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Hounslow were built between 1973 and 1999 (about 36%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 31%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Terraced houses are home to about 31% of households in the streets around Hounslow, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. Loft conversions are common in London terraces, leaving eaves and sloping ceilings to use; we build once the loft is converted or boarded. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in the rest of London are set locally. If your road in Hounslow falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Parking near your home is worth mentioning during the design visit.
Close to Sunbury Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. For a family home near Meadhurst Primary School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit.

What prompts loft storage in Hounslow
A loft room used as an office or guest room often needs storage too. Storage in the eaves leaves the main floor clear.
We’re often asked to help with:
- A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
If you live in a flat close to Sunbury station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Whether they measure the room themselves
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
Questions from Hounslow
Do you make loft storage for homes in Hounslow?
Yes, Hounslow is within the area we cover, which takes in all of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Hounslow?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
It’s something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.
Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?
We make the storage in sections sized for the route. At the design visit, we measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landings. It means a full wardrobe can still reach the room.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. It depends on how much storage you want, the shape of the room and the finish. For a quote, use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
