How we make fitted wardrobes for Brentford
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall where the space allows. There is no dusty gap on top and no tricky space at the ends. For a bedroom in Brentford, the first step is a design visit to measure up and talk through the design. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes.
A large number of homes around Brentford date from 2000 onwards, and in London many homes of that age are flats with compact bedrooms. Small rooms suit fitted furniture that uses the full height and the tricky corners. Boxing for pipes and risers is designed around rather than left as dead space.
The furniture is built in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so tell us what applies during the design visit. The furniture comes in sections and is fixed in place. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and tell us what you keep in your wardrobes now.
- We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
- The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
- We fit the wardrobes in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.
Before fitting day
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
Arranging a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if you do not, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Advice
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
My home in Brentford is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Brentford station?
Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you, and it is set out in the quote.
What affects the price of fitted wardrobes?
Each room is quoted on its own: the size, what goes inside, the finish and how square the room is all count. The written quote follows the design visit.
How is the inside of the wardrobe planned?
The inside is planned around your clothes. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves, drawers and shoe space can all be included, in the proportions you need. We talk it through at the measuring visit.
Before and after fitting day
The finish lasts best with a little care. These practical tips help:
- Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
- Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
- Think about where you will keep shoes, bags and folded clothes
- Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Hinges can usually be adjusted to line the doors up again.
Spread heavy items rather than piling them in one place. Rails and shelves are planned for normal use, so mention anything unusually heavy when we plan.

Do you need fitted wardrobes in Brentford?
Couples often want storage that works for two. We can plan separate sections for each person.
People typically get in touch with us about needs like these:
- Too little room for clothes
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
- No space in front for doors to swing
- Wasted space beside the chimney breast
Near listed buildings like Church of St Lawrence, about 0.5 miles south-west of the centre of Brentford, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
How it’s made
Spray-painted finish
Spray painting is done in the workshop, which gives large doors a smooth, even surface. It suits a crisp, modern look as well as a classic panelled door.
Moisture-resistant MDF
With no grain to show through, MDF gives a calm painted finish. We use the moisture-resistant grade for fitted wardrobes.
Fitted wardrobes in Brentford: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Brentford were built since 2000 (about 38%) and before 1919 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. 8 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Brentford. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Hounslow is no exception. Where a street in Brentford is controlled, a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension from the council. Let us know what the parking is like at the design visit.
The wider area includes historic houses such as Kew Palace, about 0.5 miles south-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. For families living near St Paul's CofE Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.
