Queensbury Fitted Wardrobes
Thinking about fitted wardrobes in Queensbury? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a quote in writing.
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- Not enough hanging space
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed
Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
How fitting day works
You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the measuring visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- It starts when you let us know about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
- We visit to measure the room and talk through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too. Let us know about parking as well, as a van normally needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- You receive a quote in writing for the wardrobes.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
- Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.
Preparing the room
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Fitted wardrobes in Queensbury: what you get
You can choose hinged or sliding doors. Hinged doors open a whole section at once. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. We weigh them up with you at the measuring visit. Most enquiries start with mismatched bedroom furniture and gaps above and around standalone wardrobes; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Queensbury, the third bedroom is often small, sitting over the stairs. That’s where fitted wardrobes earn their place, making a small room work as a dressing room, a guest room or both. Every wall is measured and checked, even in a house that looks square.
We write quotes in plain English. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

Fitted wardrobes in Queensbury: local notes
In the neighbourhood around Queensbury, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 80%) and the years since 2000 (about 8%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Queensbury is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Harrow included. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Queensbury, as it does anywhere else in London. We go through parking and access at the measuring visit.
Headstone Manor, about 2.7 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If you live in a flat close to Kenton station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Queensbury is within the London Borough of Harrow, about 3 miles south-west of Harrow. Anywhere in Queensbury, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Queensbury is one of 20 places on our list for Harrow.
We make fitted wardrobes across the HA3, NW9 and HA7 postcode area. Our area takes in homes on streets such as Glebe Lane, Kenton Road and Turner Road, whether you want fitted wardrobes or another piece made for the room. What we do not do
Some parts of a job need another trade, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Fixing the cause of condensation or damp
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.
What it is made from
- Spray-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
- Birch plywood
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Hand-painted finish
Flats, leases and landlords
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls at the measuring visit.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the design visit.
Do you need fitted wardrobes in Queensbury?
Sometimes it’s a change in how a room is used. Built-in storage makes the room work for its new role without crowding the floor. Inside, the layout can change as needs change.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- Clothes with nowhere proper to go
- Not enough hanging space
- A room too narrow for hinged doors
- Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
If you live near Roe Green Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
Choosing a carpenter
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
Questions from Queensbury
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Queensbury?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
Do you cover homes near Kenton station?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
What affects the price of fitted wardrobes?
It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish. We send a written quote after the design visit.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front. We will help you weigh them up when we visit.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.
Could you do it yourself?
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
