Need fitted wardrobes in West Hendon?
Flats, blocks and rented homes
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you contact us.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.
Fitted wardrobes for homes in West Hendon
Doors can be hinged or sliding. Hinged doors open a whole section at once. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. People usually come to us about storage boxes stacked under the bed and space under the eaves going to waste, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Many homes around West Hendon were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are compact flats in newer blocks. In a compact bedroom, fitted furniture that reaches the ceiling and uses the corners makes the most difference. Boxed-in pipes and service risers can be built around, so nothing is wasted.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish.

Is bespoke worth it?
Modular interior systems can be rearranged easily, and that flexibility is useful. A bespoke interior is planned around what you own. In an open-plan room, standalone pieces can look scattered, while fitted furniture can give the space structure.
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, message us from the contact page.
Why choose us
- Edges scribed to follow your walls
- Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement
- We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote
- Built around your room
Looking after your furniture
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Look at whether your lease needs consent for alterations
- Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
- Empty the area where we will be working
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
Leave a little space between clothes and the back of the wardrobe where the wardrobe sits on an outside wall. Air moving through helps avoid condensation and mould.
Close doors gently and don’t let them swing into furniture, and slide doors without forcing them. It helps the hinges and runners stay true.
Your questions about fitted wardrobes in West Hendon
Do you cover homes near Hendon station?
Yes, homes across Barnet and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
I live in a flat in West Hendon. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Can fitted wardrobes go either side of the bed?
Yes. Wardrobes can sit either side of the bed with a bridge of cupboards above. It’s planned so there is room around the bed and the room doesn’t feel enclosed.
Do photos help?
Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form.
How is the furniture painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Will a sloping floor cause problems for fitted wardrobes?
Floors in older houses are often out of level. We set fitted wardrobes level on a plinth or adjustable feet, so the doors hang true.

Fitted bedroom furniture in West Hendon
About 38% of the homes in the streets around West Hendon went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 35% since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted wardrobes are fixed and fitted. There is a conservation area within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of West Hendon, going by Historic England’s data. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. The council can confirm if you are not sure. More than a third of the homes in the area around West Hendon (about 38%) date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Houses from that era often have a box room over the stairs, with a raised bulkhead in the floor, a good spot for fitted furniture built around the bulkhead.
If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of the Holy Innocents, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On the day, floors are covered first and the sections brought in. The pieces are levelled and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Any hand painting can be finished on site.
- You describe the bedroom and the storage you need.
- We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers.
- We put the design, materials and finish into a quote in writing. It lists what’s inside each wardrobe as well as the doors.
- Once you’re happy, the wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We bring them to your home and fit them in place.
Before we arrive
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you are ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a quote in writing.

Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in West Hendon
A finished loft conversion often leaves a new bedroom with sloping walls and no storage. Storage built into the slope uses space that would otherwise go to waste, leaving the floor open.
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting in touch:
- Not enough hanging space
- A bedroom that never feels tidy
- Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall
- An awkward slope in a loft bedroom
For families living near The Hyde School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- How the doors are hung and adjusted
- Where they’ll park and unload
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
