Need fitted home offices in Wembley?

What affects the cost of fitted home offices

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.

Helping us understand the room

To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:

  • How you want to use the space
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling

To make a start, use our contact form and tell us a little about the room. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Fitted home offices for homes in Wembley

Light matters in a home office. A screen facing a window can be hard to read, and a window behind you can cause glare. We will suggest where the desk should go to make the most of daylight without glare. We look at it early during the design visit in Wembley. Most enquiries start with flimsy shelves that won’t take the weight and an alcove or landing that could take a desk; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

A large number of homes around Wembley date from 2000 onwards, and newer homes often have compact second bedrooms that end up as offices. A desk with shelves and closed storage can share the room with a wall bed or a sofa bed. Stud walls need the right fixings for loaded shelves.

If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Ready-made office furniture comes in set sizes for straight walls. In an alcove, a landing or under the eaves, that leaves gaps and wasted space. Bespoke furniture is made to the room and fits it. It is a bigger investment, and the gain is a workspace that uses the room well. Big standalone units can dominate a compact room, whereas fitted pieces painted to suit the walls sit back into the space.

There’s no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, with the materials and finish set out. To start, message us from the contact page.

What happens on fitting day

There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it is useful to have the room cleared beforehand, as we’ll have talked about during the design visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Newer developments sometimes have their own parking and loading rules, so let us know what applies during the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. First you tell us about the room and what your work needs.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the desk, shelving and storage. New sockets are for your electrician, so it is useful to think about them early.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out, for you to read through.
  4. We make every part in our workshop, sized for the room and the route in.
  5. We fit it in your home, scribed to the walls and set level, with cable routes left clear.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are

Getting a quote

Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you’re ready, get in touch through our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Wembley homes and fitted home offices

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Wembley were built since 2000 (about 53%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 30%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how home offices are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Wembley, Historic England’s list includes Wembley Hill Lodge (Grade II), less than half a mile south-east. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Newer homes are more common around Wembley than across Brent: about 53% date from 2000 onwards, against about 23%, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That makes plasterboard stud walls and compact rooms more likely, which shapes the fixings and sizes.

If you live in a flat close to North Wembley station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. For a family home near Wembley Primary School, a desk with shelves and closed storage can serve both work and homework. Close to Preston Park? A desk facing a window makes the most of the daylight.

Looking after your furniture

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Choose a calm colour for a working room
  • Let us know about every device that needs a home
  • Consider your chair when planning the desk
  • Notice where daylight falls at different times

Small marks on a hand-painted finish can be touched in. It’s worth keeping a record of the paint colour. If anything isn’t right with the furniture, drop us a line using the contact form and we will talk it through.

Use a mat or coasters on the desk for hot drinks. Mop up spills quickly. A desk mat under the keyboard and mouse saves wear on the surface.

Questions from Wembley

Do you make fitted home offices for homes in Wembley?

Yes. Wembley is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Brent and London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.

How do you fit fitted home offices in a flat in Wembley?

We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

How long is the fitting for a home office?

The time the fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We make the desk and storage in our workshop, so the time at your home is spent fitting. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.

When is bespoke worth it?

A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls.

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
