TV and media units in Wembley
Set-top boxes, consoles and amplifiers give off heat, so sealing equipment in a cupboard isn’t a good idea. Ventilation is planned into the design, using open backs, gaps or openings where equipment sits. Equipment makers often say how much space their boxes need around them. If your home has alcoves either side of the chimney breast going to waste and a TV that looks out of place in the room, that’s what TV and media units are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
A large share of the homes around Wembley date from 2000 onwards, and newer homes seldom have fitted storage in the living room. TV and media units can be planned around where the sockets and aerial points already are, with routes for cables designed in. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, which is fine for fitted furniture when the fixings are right.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

How fitting works for TV and media units
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and how many cupboards and shelves it has, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.
- You get in touch about a built-in TV unit.
- At the design visit we agree the layout and talk about colour and finish.
- You get a quote in writing covering the design, the materials and the finish.
- The unit is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- The unit is fitted and scribed to the walls, and any hand painting is done in the room.
Getting ready for fitting day

Starting with a design visit
Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, especially with rough measurements. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

What we do not do
It is worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Configuring the TV and sound system
- Structural changes to the wall
- Repairing plaster or redecorating
If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.
Boards, parts and finishes

How we price TV and media units
To work out the quote, we look at:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Parking and unloading on your street
Rooms that aren’t square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it.
What to send when you contact us
To help us picture the room, please include:
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Your postcode and the borough
- Approximate measurements of the space
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you’re ready, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.
Practical tips
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Think about whether you’ll upgrade the screen
- Plan open spaces for anything controlled by a remote
- Mention parking and stairs when we visit
- Find out how much space each box needs around it
Once your equipment is in, check that it is not running hot. Keep vents, gaps and open backs clear of cables and clutter.
Don’t stack boxes on top of each other in one space because heat builds up between them. Give each its own space.
What prompts TV and media units in Wembley
Boxes, consoles and routers on the floor are a familiar sight. A media unit gives each box its own ventilated space, and keeps the floor clear.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- Equipment running hot in a closed cupboard
- Equipment with nowhere proper to go
- Nowhere good for speakers
- A tangle of wires behind the TV
For families living near Wembley Primary School, shelving with deep cupboards below keeps books, games and school things in one place.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
TV and media units in Wembley: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Wembley were built since 2000 (about 53%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 30%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Wembley include Wembley Hill Lodge (Grade II), less than half a mile south-east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. More than half of the homes in the streets around Wembley (about 53%) were built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Newer homes usually have plasterboard stud walls and open-plan rooms, often with no chimney breast, so TV and media units are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor.
If you live in a flat close to North Wembley station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. Close to Preston Park? TV and media units can be planned to frame a window with a view rather than block it.
Wembley is part of the London Borough of Brent, about 4 miles south-east of Kilburn. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Wembley is part of that. Wembley is one of the places in Brent where we make TV and media units, and the borough has 29 places on our list.

Common questions about TV and media units
Can you fit furniture in a home close to North Wembley station?
Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Wembley?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
The furniture is built in sections. At the design visit, we measure the route not just the room.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a written quote.
