Fitted wardrobes for homes in Castle Green
In the area around Castle Green, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 55%) and the years since 2000 (about 22%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Castle Green. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit. About 49% of households in the streets around Castle Green live in terraced houses, based on Census 2021. Terraced houses often have a narrow back bedroom and alcoves either side of a chimney breast, both good spaces for fitted storage.
Eastbury Manor House, about 1 mile west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For a flat near Barking Riverside station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If you live near Mayesbrook Park, keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Castle Green
An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, and clothes pressed against a cold wall can lead to condensation. Where a wardrobe goes on an external wall, we plan ventilation behind and inside it, which helps keep mould away. Moisture-resistant MDF is a sensible choice there too. If you’re living with a bedroom that never feels tidy and too little room for clothes, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
A loft conversion is a common way to add a bedroom to a semi or an interwar house, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. Around Castle Green, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. Our part starts once the loft has been converted, with each piece scribed to the slope and set level.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Older homes rarely have straight walls or level floors. A standalone wardrobe can lean, rock or show tapering gaps. We set fitted wardrobes level and scribe them to the walls and ceiling. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, which leaves ready-made pieces sitting awkwardly. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Tell us about parking during the design visit.

How it’s made
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. It’s easy to touch up later, and it suits a softer, traditional look.
Doors and drawer fronts
Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.
Practical tips
The finish lasts best with a little care. Here are our suggestions:
- Have sockets moved before the wardrobes go in
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
- Measure the gap between the wardrobe wall and the bed
- Work out the split between long and short hanging
With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then to keep them running smoothly. Do not let shoes or bags sit in the track.
Spread heavy items rather than piling them in one place. Rails and shelves are planned for normal use.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room.
- You get in touch with a few details about the bedroom and where it is in the house.
- We visit to measure the room and talk through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too. Let us know about parking as well, as a van normally needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop the wardrobes are built in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, so each piece fits through the doors and round the landings.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
Preparing the room
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
Ask for a quote
A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Flats, conversions and lettings
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the design visit.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.

Questions we are often asked
Do you cover homes near Barking Riverside station?
Yes. We cover all of Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details about the room.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Castle Green?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
What affects the price of fitted wardrobes?
It depends on the size, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish. We send a quote in writing after the design visit.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. We will also ask about access and parking, and a quote in writing follows.
How long are you in the house for fitting?
How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We’ll explain what fitting day involves before we start.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
