Loft storage in Sipson

We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. We do not carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. In Sipson, it all begins with a design visit. Most enquiries start with a new loft conversion that needs storage and a dormer that isn’t being used, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Where housing is mixed, as in much of London, floors, walls and ceilings vary from one home to the next. Each piece is scribed to the wall and set level, whatever the room is like. The finish, spray-painted or hand-painted, is agreed with you.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Why bespoke in Sipson?

Standard furniture doesn’t allow for the insulation and ventilation behind the eaves. We plan the storage around what’s behind the knee wall. That’s important for the health of the loft. Standalone furniture leaves gaps behind and above it that gather dust, while fitted pieces are scribed tight to the walls and ceiling.

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Why us?

  • Every London borough and the City of London covered
  • Saturday work by arrangement
  • Edges scribed to follow your walls
  • Built in our workshop and fitted in your home

Fitted storage in Sipson

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Sipson were built since 2000 (about 34%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 27%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Sipson include The King William IV Public House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west, and Lanz Farmhouse (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. Controlled parking zones are common across London, and Hillingdon sets its own rules. If your street in Sipson is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. Tell us what the parking is like at the design visit.

Close to Lake Farm Country Park? Eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. If your children go to Cherry Lane Primary School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can be planned around what a family needs to keep, from coats and bags to sports kit.

When you need someone else

Some parts of a job need another trade, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:

  • Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
  • Building work to turn a loft into a room
  • Any work on the structure of the house

If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. How it works.

Boards, parts and finishes

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Sloped wardrobe tops

What it costs

The price for your room depends on:

  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • The overall size of the piece
  • The number of doors and drawers

In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

What we need to know

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To book one, fill in our short enquiry form.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we’ve measured the way in.

FAQs: loft storage in Sipson

Is parking a problem for fitting in Sipson?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Do you make loft storage for homes in Sipson?

Yes, we work across Hillingdon, Sipson included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?

Measuring the route is part of the design visit. Each section is made to fit the narrowest point, and then assembled in the loft.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.

How fitting day works

However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, until the line is tight. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Whatever the age of your home, the furniture is fitted to the walls you have, with scribing where they wander and packing where floors dip. Hand painting can happen on site, while spray-painted pieces come ready from the workshop.

  1. You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
  2. We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
  5. We fit the storage in the loft, trimming the edges so they meet the ceiling neatly, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Before fitting day

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Tell us about parking near your home
