Fitted wardrobes in Sipson, Hillingdon

Planning fitted wardrobes for a home in Sipson? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a written quote, before anything is made.

  • A room too narrow for hinged doors
  • Storage boxes stacked under the bed
  • A bedroom that never feels tidy

Fitted wardrobes in Sipson: what you get

A fitted wardrobe is built into the room itself, running floor to ceiling and wall to wall where the space allows. There’s no dusty gap on top and no awkward space at the ends. For a bedroom in Sipson, the first step is a design visit to measure up and talk through the design. Most enquiries start with condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall and too little room for clothes, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Where housing is mixed, as in much of London, bedrooms range from box rooms to large rooms with bays and sloping ceilings. Fitted furniture can suit each, sized and laid out for the room. Nothing is assumed to be square, so the room is measured carefully.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Do you need fitted wardrobes in Sipson?

For some, it is about a calmer room. A run of painted doors from wall to wall looks quieter than several separate pieces.

Some of the things we are asked to solve include:

  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Too little room for clothes
  • Dusty space on top of the wardrobe
  • A room too narrow for hinged doors

If you live in a flat close to West Drayton station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

Choosing a carpenter

  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Whether you will get a quote in writing, not just a figure
  • How parking will work on your street
  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?

What fitted wardrobes can’t fix

It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Treating damp or mould on the walls
  • Structural changes to the room
  • Redecorating around the wardrobes

If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

What goes into it

  • Spray-painted finish
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Sipson?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to West Drayton station?

Yes, homes across Hillingdon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Should I send pictures?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot. To send them, send us a few details through our contact form.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?

It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front; sliding doors suit narrow rooms, though only part of the inside is open at once. We’ll help you weigh them up when we visit.

How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?

We make the wardrobes in sections sized to the route into your home. We measure the stairs, landings and lift as well as the bedroom. In a leasehold flat, it is worth checking the lease first.

Could you do it yourself?

Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: flat-pack is typically cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Sipson homes and fitted wardrobes

In the area around Sipson, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 34%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 27%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Sipson include The King William IV Public House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west, and Lanz Farmhouse (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. Around a third of the homes in the area around Sipson (about 34%) were built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Bedrooms in homes built since 2000 tend to be compact, with stud walls, so fitted pieces use the full height and are fixed into the studs.

Close to Lake Farm Country Park? Keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. For families living near Cherry Lane Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

What affects the price in Sipson

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:

  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

What to send when you get in touch

There is no need for exact sizes or plans. It’s enough to send:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters

Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To send them over, send us a few details through our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

From workshop to your room

Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. It’s useful to clear the room and the route in before fitting day, including anything on the walls near the work. We cover floors and doorways first. Then the sections come in and are joined in place.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the bedroom, and we arrange a design visit.
  2. We come to measure the room, check the walls and ceiling and agree the layout. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. Your quote follows, with the layout, materials and finish set out, so you can see what’s included.
  4. We make the carcasses, doors and drawers in our workshop, sized to get through your doors and up the stairs.
  5. We install the wardrobes, hang the doors and fit the rails, shelves and drawers. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

Ask for a quote

To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us a little about the room. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and a quote in writing follows.
