Loft storage in Harlington, Hillingdon

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make loft storage for homes in Harlington, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Furniture that can’t get up to the loft
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home

Loft storage designed for your room

About our loft storage in Harlington

We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. We do not carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. In Harlington, it all begins with a design visit. If your home has a new loft conversion that needs storage and unused space in a dormer, that is what eaves cupboards are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Many post-war homes have a boiler in a hall, kitchen or landing cupboard. Any new cupboard around it keeps the clearances its manufacturer sets out. With many homes around Harlington built between 1945 and the early 1970s, that is one of the things we check at the design visit. Work on the boiler itself is for a Gas Safe engineer.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so it’s clear what’s included.

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

Off-the-shelf wardrobes often don’t fit up narrow loft stairs. We make each piece in sections that fit up the stairs. That makes it possible to fit large pieces in a small loft. In a plain post-war room, standalone pieces stand proud of the wall with nothing to frame them, while a fitted run can create its own recesses and frame a window or door.

We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, use our contact form.

What you get with us

  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Made for your room, not a standard size
  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight
  • A spray or hand-painted finish

Questions from Harlington

I live near Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 Rail station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Hillingdon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do you make loft storage for homes in Harlington?

Yes. We cover all of Hillingdon and the rest of London, and Harlington is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.

How do you get large pieces into a loft?

Measuring the route is part of the design visit. Each section is made to fit the narrowest point, and the pieces are put together in the room.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.

Can you build a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?

Yes. Bespoke wardrobes are made to the angle of the ceiling. The tall end takes hanging space, and the low end can hold shelves or drawers. It is scribed to the slope and walls.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

How fitting day works

With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Communal stairs in older blocks often have tight landings, so sections are sized for both the stairs and any lift. Where the building has a caretaker or managing agent, it is useful to tell them before fitting day. Common parts are protected while we carry in.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the loft room, whether it’s a converted room or a boarded space.
  2. We visit to measure and look at what’s behind the knee walls.
  3. A written quote follows, with the fitting days agreed. You can ask us about any of it.
  4. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, cut to the slope.
  5. The storage is fitted and set level, ready to fill, with the doors and drawers checked with you.

Before fitting day

  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going

Starting with a design visit

Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

Advice

Could you do it yourself?

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t normally do that in an older room.

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Harlington homes and loft storage

Homes built between 1945 and 1972 make up about 49% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Harlington, with about 27% built between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The Harlington Village Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Harlington. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. Parking controls in London are set borough by borough, so Hillingdon has its own. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Parking near your home is worth mentioning at the design visit.

If you live near Lake Farm Country Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. For families living near William Byrd Primary Academy, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.

What affects the price in Harlington

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

What to send when you get in touch

Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. If you can, send:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Tips worth knowing

People planning loft storage often ask about these. They’re worth knowing before and after fitting:

  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Plan where the tall end of a wardrobe can go
  • Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
  • Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both

Before we leave, we check every door and drawer with you. If there is an access door to the eaves, we make sure it opens fully. You’ll know it all works as it should.

Temperatures in a loft room can swing more than elsewhere. A little ventilation helps. It helps the storage stay in good condition.
