TV and media units in Gillette Corner, Hounslow

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on TV and media units in Gillette Corner starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.

  • A screen at the wrong height
  • Boxes with no ventilation
  • Leads that show from every angle

How we price TV and media units

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:

  • How square the room is
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • The internal fittings
  • How big the furniture is

There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

What we need to know

There is no need for exact sizes or plans. It’s enough to send:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • How you want to use the space
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

TV and media units in Gillette Corner: what you get

The screen size comes first. We plan the space around the TV you have, or the one you expect to buy, with a margin so it is not a tight squeeze. Viewing height matters too: we set it to suit the sofa, not the shape of the wall. If you are living with boxes and consoles on the floor and standard units leaving gaps, that’s what TV and media units are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Gillette Corner, the main room is often well proportioned, with a bay, a chimney breast and not many other recesses. That leaves room for TV and media units in the alcoves, along a full wall or around the chimney breast, depending on how you use the room. Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood keep the pieces stable, and the paint finish is agreed with you.

If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

How fitting works for TV and media units

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is typically only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. You describe the TV wall and your equipment, from set-top boxes to speakers.
  2. We come to measure and talk through screen height, speakers and cables.
  3. A quote in writing follows.
  4. Once you are happy, the unit is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with cable routes planned in.
  5. We bring it to your home and fit it in place.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going

Honest limits

As carpenters, we leave some work to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:

  • Configuring the TV and sound system
  • Repairing plaster or redecorating
  • Aerial, satellite or broadband installation

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.

What it’s made from

  • Cable routes
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Ventilated cabinets
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

Is bespoke worth it?

Standalone TV units cost less and arrive quickly. A stand is also simple to swap when technology moves on. Bespoke units are made for one wall and the things you use. Standard widths rarely add up to the length of a real wall, so fitted furniture is made to the wall’s own length. It can use the full height too.

Rooms that aren’t square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That is reflected in the quote.

What you get with us

  • A design visit, then a written quote
  • We work across all London boroughs
  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight
  • Finished by spray or by hand

Flats, blocks and rented homes

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you get in touch.

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.

Common questions about TV and media units

Can you make TV and media units for a home in Gillette Corner?

Yes, Gillette Corner is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Hounslow and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Gillette Corner?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a quote in writing.

Does the unit work if the TV is on a bracket?

We can plan for either a wall-mounted TV or one standing on the unit. If the TV is wall-mounted, panels and shelves are arranged around the bracket and cables.

How do I get a quote for TV and media units in Gillette Corner?

The first step is to drop us a line using the contact form. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a written quote.

TV and media units for homes in Gillette Corner

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 51% of the housing in the area around Gillette Corner, with about 20% built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 5 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Gillette Corner. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. Where a home in Gillette Corner is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that during the design visit. Then we can work out where to load and unload.

If you live near Boston Manor Park, TV and media units can be planned to frame a window with a view rather than block it. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Brentford and Isleworth Quaker Meeting House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent. If you live in a flat close to Syon Lane station, it is useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.
