TV and media units in Hounslow
Planning TV and media units for a home in Hounslow? We start with a design visit and a quote in writing, before anything is made.

- Wasted space around the screen
TV and media units for your home in Hounslow
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Most stands have a cable hole or two at the back, but the wires still show between the stand, the wall and the screen. A built-in unit has routes planned through it. Walls and floors are seldom perfectly flat in any home, so standalone furniture can lean or leave gaps. Fitted furniture is scribed and levelled on site.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Why us?
- Every London borough and the City of London covered
- Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Over 300 projects completed
- Saturdays by arrangement

TV and media units in Hounslow
Cables are the part most people want to hide. Cable routes are built into the design from the start, with openings and removable panels so you can add or swap leads later. The routes are ours, while any wiring is for your electrician. Typical reasons to get in touch are wasted space around the screen and nowhere good for speakers, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
In a part of London with mixed housing, like much of the city, living rooms vary a lot in shape. Some have alcoves either side of a chimney breast, some a bay window, and some neither. The design for your home in Hounslow starts from its own walls, with shelves sized so they do not sag.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It sets out the TV unit designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it is finished.

Living-room carpentry in Hounslow: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Hounslow were built since 2000 (about 30%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 27%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. There are 6 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Hounslow. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. Where a home in Hounslow is on or beside a main road, it is useful to mention that at the measuring visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.
If you live in a period home close to Church of St Mary the Virgin, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units. For a flat near Hounslow station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. For a family home near Chatsworth Primary School, shelving with deep cupboards below keeps books, games and school things in one place.
Hounslow is one of London’s 33 local authority areas. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Hounslow is part of that. We cover places right across the rest of London.
Design visits and fitting in TW3, TW7 and TW2 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Streets in the area include New Road, Ivy Road and Bell Road, and we cover homes on all of them for TV and media units. If you’re just outside Hounslow, we also cover Woodlands (1 mile north-east), Ivybridge (1 mile south-east), Lampton (1 mile north-west), Isleworth (1 mile east) and Spring Grove (1 mile north). Elsewhere in the rest of London, we also cover Feltham (3 miles south-west), Brentford (3 miles north-east), Chiswick (4 miles east), Strand-on-the-Green (3 miles east), Gunnersbury (4 miles north-east) and Hounslow West (2 miles west).
Near you in Hounslow
Around Hounslow, we cover homes near Royal Military School of Music, Kingsley Academy and Moon Under Water pub. For rail, the closest station is Hounslow station, roughly 0.6 miles south-west of the centre. A little further out are South Middlesex Hospital (0.9 miles south-east) and Treaty Centre (0.6 miles west). For a walk, there is Garden Lake.
Questions we’re often asked
Is Hounslow in the area you cover for TV and media units?
Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Hounslow?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Can the TV unit fit a bigger TV later?
If you are likely to upgrade, we can leave room for it. It is useful to know the size you’re thinking of.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
The furniture is built in sections. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.
Fitting day, step by step
With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. Either way, the day is planned at the measuring visit. Saturdays can be arranged.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the TV wall and everything that plugs into it is plenty.
- At the design visit we measure the wall and plan cable routes and ventilation, as set-top boxes, consoles and amplifiers need air.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- The unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with cable openings and vents cut in.
- The unit is fitted and scribed to the walls, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish and the routes left clear.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
Arranging a design visit
A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. To send them, use our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Where other trades come in
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:
- Connecting the TV signal or internet
- Configuring the TV and sound system
- Removing a chimney breast or any structural work
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room. How it works.
Boards, parts and finishes
- Ventilated cabinets
- Hand-painted finish
- Birch plywood
- Cable routes
- Spray-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
When is bespoke worth it?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls at the design visit.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so each section is sized to get through.
