Walk-in wardrobes in Ashburton, Croydon

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on walk-in wardrobes in Ashburton starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.

Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Ashburton

Walk-in wardrobes in Ashburton

We fit walk-in wardrobes in Ashburton and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, followed by a quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you’ll know before we start. If your home has a walk-in wardrobe within the bedroom and moving wardrobes out of the bedroom, walk-in wardrobes made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish can solve it.

Where the window, radiator and door sit decides most of a bedroom layout. Whatever kind of home you have in Ashburton, we start there, then plan fitted furniture on the walls that are left. Nothing is built tight over a radiator, so the heat still reaches the room.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

How fitting day works

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; for a house, steps, paths and parking are the things to mention. We plan the details of the day at the design visit. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and describe the room.
  2. At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. In our workshop we build the units in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry the sections in, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking near your home
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

Arranging a design visit

The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. A written quote follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Caring for painted furniture

Most of what helps is simple. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Count your coats and long garments
  • Decide on doors or open storage before we measure
  • Know what you’ll keep before planning

Adjustable shelves can be moved as your clothes change to suit what you store. It is worth a rethink each season.

Talk to your electrician early about lighting. Wiring is their work, not ours, and it’s easier to plan the units around it from the start.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We cannot advise on your lease.

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

Bedrooms in Ashburton: local notes

In the streets around Ashburton, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 44%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 26%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Ashburton, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Luke (Grade II), under half a mile north-east, and Woodside Cottage (Grade II), less than half a mile north. For a listed home, works inside that affect its character can need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Terraced houses are home to about 48% of households in the area around Ashburton, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. Terraced houses often have a narrow back bedroom and alcoves either side of a chimney breast, which suit fitted furniture.

For a family home near St Thomas Becket Catholic Primary School, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. For a flat near Norwood Junction station, walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. The wider area includes historic houses like Addington Palace, about 2.4 miles south-east. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go.

What affects the cost of walk-in wardrobes

The price for your room depends on:

  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • The width and height of the space
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • The internal fittings

There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, with the materials and finish set out. To start, message us from the contact page.

Getting in touch

Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:

  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Your postcode and the borough

Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of pictures if you can take them. To send them, message us from the contact page. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Questions we are often asked

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Ashburton?

Yes, we work across Croydon, Ashburton included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Norwood Junction station?

Yes, homes across Croydon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

How much time does fitting need?

Every room is different. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you’ll know before we start.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?

Yes. We design the units to make a dressing area within the bedroom, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.

Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?

Often, yes. It depends on the room’s shape and where the door and window sit, so we work it out when we measure.

When is bespoke worth it?

The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

It is worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture typically costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
