Woodside Walk-in Wardrobes
Thinking about walk-in wardrobes in Woodside? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a written quote.
- A calmer, clearer bedroom
- Room for two wardrobes in one space
- Hanging for coats, dresses and shirts
Walk-in wardrobes designed for your room
About our walk-in wardrobes in Woodside
With a walk-in wardrobe, clothes, shoes and bags have a space to themselves. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. Everything is made at our workshop and fitted to the room, scribed to the walls and set level. If your home has more space for clothes and shoes and a calmer, clearer bedroom, that’s what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, and the walls in a bedroom might be brick, blockwork, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Each wall is checked during the design visit before fixings are chosen. With a chimney breast, the alcoves are the obvious place; without one, a full wall typically is.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Bespoke walk-in wardrobes or ready-made?
Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, as well as a bigger outlay. In return, the layout is built around your clothes and your room. Standard widths and heights seldom suit an actual room, which leaves gaps at the sides and wasted space on top. Built-in pieces fill the space they’re made for.
There is no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, go through the design and then quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To arrange a design visit, message us from the contact page.
Why us?
- Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Every quote follows a design visit
- Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose

Flats, blocks and rented homes
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you get in touch.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.
Flat-pack or bespoke?
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
Fitted bedroom furniture in Woodside
In the streets around Woodside, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 44%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 26%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Woodside include Church of St Luke (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east, and Woodside Cottage (Grade II), under half a mile north. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. A quarter or more of the homes in the neighbourhood around Woodside (about 26%) date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, a good spot for fitted furniture built around the bulkhead.
For a flat near Norwood Junction station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If you live near Ashburton Park, walk-in wardrobes are typically planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. The wider area includes historic houses like Addington Palace, about 2.4 miles south-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Woodside
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Woodside?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It is useful to tell us about parking during the design visit.
Is Woodside in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?
Yes, we work across Croydon, Woodside included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we will see what we can do.
How much time does fitting need?
How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We’ll talk it through at the measuring visit.
Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?
Yes, where the room is large enough. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, open or behind doors. A new partition wall is building work, so that is for your builder.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Electrical work is not something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.
How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes
With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means joining the sections, fitting them to the walls and setting them level. The fixings suit whatever the walls are made of. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch with a few details about the room. A line on how you will use the room helps.
- We visit, measure and talk through hanging, shoe storage and a dressing table, planned around the way you get dressed.
- A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- The units are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The walk-in wardrobe is fitted in your home. Each unit is set level and scribed to the walls.
Before fitting day
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know

Advice
What it is made from
Hanging rails
We plan rails for full-length garments and for double hanging to suit your clothes.
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters for drawers and long shelves. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
