Walk-in wardrobes in Dollis Hill
About our walk-in wardrobes in Dollis Hill
A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. Everything is made at our workshop and fitted to the room, so it follows the walls and sits level. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and people most often get in touch about a calmer, clearer bedroom and a built-in dressing table.
A loft conversion is a common way to add a bedroom to a semi or an interwar house, and the slope can take storage cut to its angle. A big part of the housing around Dollis Hill is interwar, semi-detached or detached. We work in lofts that are already converted, with each piece scribed to the slope and set level.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made at our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so any section going up there is sized for them. The main stairs in houses of that age are typically straighter. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.
- You get in touch and describe the room.
- We visit to plan the room and measure the way in, including stairs, landings and doorways. It’s useful to mention parking then, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- We send a quote in writing.
- Everything is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
- We carry the sections in, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
Before fitting day
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
Arranging a design visit
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Dollis Hill
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Dollis Hill?
Yes, Dollis Hill is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Brent and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Dollis Hill?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
How long does fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need someone to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Does a walk-in wardrobe need air flow?
Yes, it helps avoid condensation and mould. The design allows air to circulate, and any damp on the walls should be sorted before fitting.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be part of a bedroom?
Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.
What prompts walk-in wardrobes in Dollis Hill
Some want somewhere to sit and get ready. We can design a dressing table into the room, close to the clothes and shoes.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
- A built-in dressing table
- Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
- The right mix of long and short hanging
Living in a block of flats near Brent Cross West station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- How parking will work on your street
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
There’s a place for both. In a square room with a tight budget, a ready-made system may be enough. For tricky rooms, period homes or a built-in look, a bespoke design tends to earn its place. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a bay, a box room or a bulkhead over the stairs, and those are common in interwar houses. Built-in pieces are designed to fit them.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Why us?
- 300+ projects completed
- Finished by spray or by hand
- We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote

What walk-in wardrobes can’t fix
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:
- Fixing the cause of damp
- Advice on your lease
- New lights or sockets

Dollis Hill homes and walk-in wardrobes
In the neighbourhood around Dollis Hill, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 47%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 20%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Near the centre of Dollis Hill, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Michael (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-east. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, like fixing into or removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Brent included. Vans bringing furniture to Dollis Hill fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.
If your children go to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Junior School or a school nearby, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. Close to Gladstone Park? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
