Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Neasden

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Neasden

A walk-in wardrobe needs air moving through it, especially on an external wall, which can be colder than internal walls. Moving air helps keep clothes fresh and stops damp building up, and we design the units to allow for it. People normally come to us about a built-in dressing table and a calmer, clearer bedroom; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Neasden, the spare room may be the small one at the front, over the hall and stairs. Small rooms like that suit walk-in wardrobes, whether the room is a guest room, a dressing room or a study. Every wall is measured and checked, even in a house that looks square.

Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished.

Why bespoke in Neasden?

Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, as well as a bigger outlay. What you get is storage designed for what you own and the space you have. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, which leaves ready-made pieces sitting awkwardly. Fitted furniture is designed around them.

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Walk-in wardrobes in Neasden: local notes

In the area around Neasden, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 40%) and before 1919 (about 33%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Neasden include Church of St Mary (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south, and Church of St Francis (Grade II), about 0.5 miles east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can require listed building consent. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 22% of households in the streets around Neasden, the 2021 Census shows. In a converted house, rooms can be odd shapes, with new partitions meeting old walls, and the route in may go through a shared hall and stairs. If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before anything is fixed to the walls.

If you live in a flat close to Brent Cross West station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. For an older house near St Catherine's Church Neasden with St Paul, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice. Close to Gladstone Park? Walk-in wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.

Where other trades come in

As carpenters, we leave some work to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:

  • Structural changes or removing walls
  • Advice on your lease
  • Lighting and wiring, which are for your electrician

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Materials and parts

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Shoe storage
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood
  • Hanging, shelves and drawers
  • Dressing table
  • Spray-painted finish

Flats, leases and landlords

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Tell us about them at the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

From workshop to your room

At the end, we tidy up and take up the floor coverings. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. First, you tell us about the space.
  2. The design visit covers measuring and the layout inside, planned around the way you get dressed.
  3. A written quote is sent to you.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop.
  5. The walk-in wardrobe is fitted in your home. Each unit is set level and scribed to the walls.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings

Arranging a design visit

If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Advice

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Questions from Neasden

I live near Brent Cross West station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Neasden?

We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Do you move sockets or add lighting?

No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We will design around them.

Should a walk-in wardrobe have doors?

There is no single right answer. Doors, open rails and shelves can all be combined, and we go through the options when we measure.

Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?

That is normal in older homes, and it’s what scribing is for. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.
