Walk-in wardrobes in Roxeth

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, once we have measured the way in.

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

About our walk-in wardrobes in Roxeth

A box room is often too small for a bed but just right for a dressing room. Lined with hanging and shelves, it can hold far more than a wardrobe in the bedroom, leaving the bedroom with more space. We plan the layout so you can stand, turn and see everything. We make walk-in wardrobes from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about room for two wardrobes in one space and a built-in dressing table.

In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Roxeth, bedrooms typically have regular walls, a window on one side and sometimes a chimney breast. That makes a full wall of fitted furniture simple to plan, laid out around what you store. Where a loft conversion has been added, the sloping ceiling can take storage too.

After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Roxeth?

Yes. Roxeth is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Harrow and London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Sudbury Hill Harrow station?

Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?

Yes. Air needs to circulate around stored clothes, particularly against a cooler external wall. The units are designed with ventilation in mind.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a quote in writing.

How long will the walk-in wardrobe take to fit?

Every room is different. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you will know before we start.

Should I send pictures?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

What happens on fitting day

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are typically straightforward, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. Walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections and are assembled in place.

  1. We start with the room you have in mind and what needs a home. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. You get a written quote for the design we have agreed.
  4. We build the carcasses, drawers and shelves in our workshop.
  5. The units are fitted in your home and trimmed to follow the walls.

How to prepare

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Empty the space we will be working in

Starting with a design visit

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Advice

What it costs

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • Parking near your home

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Before the design visit

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.

How it’s made

Why people ask for walk-in wardrobes in Roxeth

Sometimes a house changes and a room becomes spare. A walk-in wardrobe is a popular way to use it.

Some of the things we’re asked to solve include:

  • A use for a small spare room
  • The right mix of long and short hanging
  • A dressing area in part of a bedroom
  • Room for two wardrobes in one space

Northolt Manor, about 1.9 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.
