Walk-in wardrobes in Greenhill, Harrow

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on walk-in wardrobes in Greenhill starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.

  • Proper shoe storage
  • A built-in dressing table
  • Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom

About our walk-in wardrobes in Greenhill

Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Greenhill and all over London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, then a written quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you will know before we start. If your home has a dressing area in part of a bedroom and turning a box room into a dressing room, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

In a home built since 2000, stud walls may hide pipes and cables, so we check before fixing into them. Many homes around Greenhill date from 2000 onwards, so this check is routine. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes

Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?

Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.

Do you cover homes near Harrow-on-the-Hill station?

Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.

Who chooses the colour?

The choice is yours. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?

Yes, if there is enough space. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, open or behind doors. A new partition wall is building work, so that’s for your builder.

My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?

Walls and floors that aren’t true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.

Can a box room become a walk-in wardrobe?

In many homes, yes. We can line a small room with hanging, shelving and drawers and still leave room to move. We check the room at the design visit.

What affects the price in Greenhill

The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:

  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • Parking near your home

We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, go through the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

What we need to know

You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:

  • Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • What the furniture needs to hold

We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Flats, leases and landlords

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that’s best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease.

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the measuring visit, so fitting day is planned around them.

Before and after fitting day

Looking after painted furniture is simple. These habits help most:

  • Plan lighting with your electrician
  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Keep the room ventilated
  • Sort through your clothes before the design visit

Store heavy things on lower shelves and spread the weight along the rails. That keeps the hanging and shelves in good shape.

Talk to your electrician early about lighting. Wiring is their work, not ours, and the units can be designed around the lighting.

Bedrooms in Greenhill: local notes

Homes built since 2000 make up about 45% of the housing in the streets around Greenhill, with about 22% built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. There are 9 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Greenhill. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Harrow included. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Greenhill, as it does anywhere else in London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.

For an older house near Church of St John the Baptist, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice. Near listed buildings like Granada Cinema, less than half a mile south-east of the centre of Greenhill, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. The wider area includes historic houses like Headstone Manor, about 1.1 miles north-west. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Greenhill is about 1 mile south-west of Harrow, part of the London Borough of Harrow. Homes in Greenhill are part of the area we cover for walk-in wardrobes. Greenhill is one of 20 places on our list for Harrow.

We cover every part of HA1, HA3 and HA2. Our area takes in homes on streets like Lyon Road, Hill Road and Byron Road, along with the roads around them, whether you want walk-in wardrobes or another piece made for the room. We also cover Wealdstone (1 mile north), Northwick Park (1 mile south-east), Harrow (1 mile south-west), Kenton (1 mile east) and Roxeth (1 mile south-west). We also make walk-in wardrobes in nearby places such as Stanmore (2 miles north-east), Hatch End (2 miles north-west), Little Stanmore (3 miles north-east), South Harrow (2 miles south-west), Pinner Green (3 miles west) and Pinner (2 miles west).

How it is made

Shelves

Upper shelves are good for cases and seasonal clothes, while daily things stay within reach.

Birch plywood

Drawers are opened every day, so we make them strong.

How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes

Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Newer blocks often have concierge desks, entry systems and rules on lift booking, so it helps to sort them out beforehand. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.

  1. You contact us about a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room.
  2. At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
  5. We carry the sections in, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone

Ask for a quote

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit. To arrange the visit, get in touch through our contact form.
