Walk-in wardrobes in Northwick Park, Brent
Thinking about walk-in wardrobes in Northwick Park? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a written quote, before anything is made.
- A dressing area in part of a bedroom
- Storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe
- Turning a box room into a dressing room
Walk-in wardrobes designed for your room
How fitting day works
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so it helps to sort them out in advance. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.
- First, you let us know about the space. A line on how you will use the room helps.
- The design visit covers measuring and the layout inside, planned around the way you get dressed.
- A quote in writing is sent to you.
- Everything is made in our workshop.
- The walk-in wardrobe is fitted in your home. Each unit is set level and scribed to the walls.
Before we arrive
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Walk-in wardrobes in Northwick Park
You do not need a spare room to have a walk-in wardrobe. Where a bedroom is large enough, a section can be set aside with a partition or a run of units, either open to the room or behind doors. Any new partition wall is for your builder, and we fit the furniture inside. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a built-in dressing table and room for two wardrobes in one space.
In a compact bedroom, the swing of hinged doors can clash with the bed, so the layout and the kind of door are worked out together. Many homes around Northwick Park were built since 2000, and bedrooms in newer homes are often compact. We measure the space in front as well as the wall.

Questions we’re often asked
Does a conservation area in or near Northwick Park affect fitted furniture?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
I live in a flat in Northwick Park. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Do I need doors on a walk-in wardrobe?
That depends on how you like to use the space. We can fit doors, open storage or both, and we’ll talk it through during the design visit.
How are walk-in wardrobes priced?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. A box room with rails and shelves and a full dressing room with drawers and a dressing table are very different jobs, so we quote once we’ve measured. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we will see what we can do.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.

Bedrooms in Northwick Park: local notes
Homes built since 2000 make up about 39% of the housing in the area around Northwick Park, with about 35% built between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Northwick Park is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Newer homes are more common around Northwick Park than across Brent: about 39% date from 2000 onwards, against about 23%, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That makes plasterboard stud walls and compact rooms more likely, which shapes the fixings and sizes.
Near listed buildings like Parish Church of St Mary, about 0.5 miles west of the centre of Northwick Park, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. Close to Preston Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window. For an older house near Saint Cuthberts Church, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.
Northwick Park is about 6 miles south-east of Kilburn, part of the London Borough of Brent. From period terraces to newer flats in Northwick Park, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. In Brent, Northwick Park is one of the places we cover, and the borough has 29 places on our list.
In HA1, HA3 and HA0, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. We cover homes on streets such as Lyon Road, Manor Road and Gayton Road, along with the roads around them, whether you want walk-in wardrobes or another piece made for the room. Northwick Park is near the A404; on busy main roads, unloading walk-in wardrobes takes a little planning. If you’re just outside Northwick Park, we also cover Greenhill (1 mile north-west), Harrow on the Hill (1 mile south-west), South Kenton (1 mile east), Kenton (1 mile north-east) and Harrow (1 mile west). Looking after your furniture
Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:
- Make sure walls are dry before units go in
- Plan shoe storage around what you own
- Keep the room ventilated
- Consider a mix of doors and open shelves
Keep heavy items low and lighter ones high and spread the weight along the rails. It helps the shelves and rails stay straight.
Plan any lighting with your electrician in good time. New lights and wiring are for them, and the units can be designed around the lighting.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Neither choice is right for every home. In a square room with a tight budget, a ready-made system may be enough. Where the room is tricky or you want it to feel built in, bespoke is normally the better fit. Large standalone pieces do not always fit the lift or the hallway, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It is then assembled and fixed in the room.
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
