Loft storage in Roxeth
Do you need loft storage in Roxeth?
A boarded loft can be made far more useful with shelving. Storage in a boarded loft keeps everything organised. It suits seasonal things and boxes.
Requests we hear often include:
- Low eaves that nobody can use
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
- A converted loft with no fitted furniture
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
For a flat near Sudbury Hill Harrow station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
- How they handle walls that aren’t straight
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
About our loft storage in Roxeth
We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. In Roxeth, it all begins with a design visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are unused space in a dormer and low eaves that nobody can use; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Roxeth, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, fitted storage near the front door can take much of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.
You get the quote in writing, so there is time to read it properly. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. Even in a 1930s house, walls and floors aren’t perfectly true, and standalone units can lean or gap. Built-in pieces are adjusted to the room on site.
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Common questions about loft storage
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Roxeth?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It is useful to tell us about parking at the design visit.
I live near Sudbury Hill Harrow station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need it. In a listed building, check with the council’s conservation officer before any work.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
Who chooses the colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.
What affects the price in Roxeth
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- The number of doors and drawers
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
What to send when you get in touch
What helps most when you first contact us:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing, so you can take your time with it. To book one, use our contact form.
How it is made
Moisture-resistant MDF
Moisture-resistant MDF is stable and takes paint well. It suits the doors, drawer fronts and panels, where a smooth, even finish matters.
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting gives a slightly softer look than spraying. It’s done on site, in the colour you choose. It can match the skirting and doors.

From workshop to your room
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. It’s useful to clear the room and the route before we arrive. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store, including the eaves and any dormer.
- We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft, as everything has to get up there.
- The design is agreed and a quote in writing follows, with the finish set out.
- The storage is built in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs.
- We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you.
Preparing the room
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
