Flats, conversions and lettings
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you contact us.
If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Ruislip
Beyond the hanging, drawers, shelves and shoe storage do a lot of the work. Folded knitwear sits well on shelves, smaller things go in drawers and shoes can have racks or shelves of their own. A dressing table with a mirror can be built in where there is space. If you’re living with storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe and a calmer, clearer bedroom, that is what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Ruislip, bedrooms are often simple shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. That makes a full wall of fitted furniture simple to plan, laid out around what you store. If the loft has been converted, sloping ceilings bring their own options.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It describes the walk-in wardrobe we’ve designed for the room, what it’s made from and how it is finished, and the workshop works from it.

From workshop to your room
With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room.
- We start with the room you have in mind and what needs a home.
- At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers.
- We send a quote that sets out the layout, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- The units are made at our workshop.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Before fitting day
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
Getting a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Advice
Why bespoke in Ruislip?
Standard systems come in set widths and heights, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. We can build right up to the ceiling and from wall to wall, which can add a lot of storage. Ready-made units come in standard depths that rarely suit every space, which may be too deep for one spot and too shallow for another. Fitted furniture is made to the depth the space can take.
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside at the design visit.
Why choose us
- Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
- Designed for the room you have
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Every quote follows a design visit
See our comparison of bespoke and off-the-shelf or what a quote should include.
Before and after fitting day
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Sort through your clothes before the design visit
- Count your shoes before the design visit
- Consider a mix of doors and open shelves
- Measure how much long hanging you need
Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth.
A new partition wall is building work, so it comes before us. We make and fit the units inside.

Bedrooms in Ruislip: local notes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 58% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Ruislip, with about 21% built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Ruislip, Historic England’s list includes Lady Bankes School (Grade II), less than half a mile south, and High Grove House (Grade II), under half a mile north. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. About 58% of homes in the area around Ruislip date from between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Houses from that era often have a box room over the stairs, with a raised bulkhead in the floor, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead.
If you live in a flat close to West Ruislip station, walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. For an older house near St Lawrence, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. The wider area includes historic houses such as Ickenham Hall, about 1.7 miles south-west. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Ruislip
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Ruislip?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Ruislip?
Yes, Ruislip is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Hillingdon and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.
How are walk-in wardrobes priced?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
It is a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.
Do I need doors on a walk-in wardrobe?
That depends on how you like to use the space. Doors, open rails and shelves can all be combined, and we will talk it through during the design visit.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.
