Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Wimbledon Park
How we make walk-in wardrobes for Wimbledon Park
Lighting makes a big difference in a dressing room. Wiring for new lights is a job for your electrician. We plan the units with your electrician’s work in mind, and agree the details at the design visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are a side each for a couple and room for a growing wardrobe, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Older bedrooms bring bowed walls and high ceilings, newer ones stud walls and lower ceilings. Your home in Wimbledon Park could be either, or something in between. We scribe, level and fix to suit whichever you have. The height of the room decides how tall the pieces can be.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

From workshop to your room
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and explain how to look after the paint. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. London parking ranges from controlled zones to driveways and private bays, so tell us what applies at the measuring visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.
- It starts with a short note from you.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- A written quote follows.
- The units are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day each unit is levelled and scribed to follow the walls.
- Before we leave we go through the doors and drawers with you; new paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
Starting with a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, get in touch through our contact form.

Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters for drawers and long shelves. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
Shelves
We plan shelving for knitwear, bags and things you use less often. Each shelf is sized for its load.
Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
Is parking a problem for fitting in Wimbledon Park?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
Is Wimbledon Park in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?
Yes. Wimbledon Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Merton and London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be part of a bedroom?
Yes, where the room is large enough. A section of the room can become a dressing area, open or behind doors. A new partition wall is building work, so that is for your builder.
Honest limits
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Structural changes or removing walls
- Fixing the cause of damp
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can send us a few details through our contact form and we will give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.

What affects the cost of walk-in wardrobes
Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:
- The number of doors and drawers
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- The internal fittings
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. It helps to talk about parking at the design visit.
Getting in touch
You do not need exact measurements or a plan. It is enough to send:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- What the furniture needs to hold
The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To book one, fill in our short enquiry form.
Bedroom storage in Wimbledon Park
In the streets around Wimbledon Park, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 42%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 19%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Wimbledon Park is partly covered by the Wimbledon North Conservation Area, according to Historic England’s records. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Your council can advise if you are unsure. Around Wimbledon Park, about 42% of homes date from before 1919, well above the figure for Merton as a whole, about 27%, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That makes period details like uneven walls, alcoves and picture rails more likely to shape the design.
Close to King George's Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window. For a family home near Albemarle Primary School, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St Luke, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.
Wimbledon Park is about 1 mile south of Wimbledon, within the London Borough of Merton. Wherever you are in Wimbledon Park, the process is the same: a design visit, a quote in writing, furniture made in our workshop and fitting in your home. We cover places right across Merton.
Here we cover the SW19 and SW18 postcode area for walk-in wardrobes. If your home is on a street like Dora Road, Church Road and Arthur Road, or close by, we can visit to measure up for walk-in wardrobes. Caring for painted furniture
A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Let air move through the space
- Talk to your electrician early about lighting
- Wipe painted surfaces with a soft, damp cloth
- Count your shoes before the design visit
Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up. A spray finish gives a smooth surface that wipes clean.
If you want a partition to create the walk-in wardrobe, talk to a builder first. We make and fit the units inside.
