Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Eastfields
Some people want doors on everything; others like open shelves and rails. Doors keep dust off and give a calm look, while open storage lets you see everything at once. The choice is yours, and we will go through it when we measure. Most enquiries start with more space for clothes and shoes and a side each for a couple, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Eastfields, bedrooms are often straightforward shapes, sometimes with a chimney breast or a bay. Fitted furniture can run along the longest wall, with the inside arranged to suit you. Where a loft conversion has been added, the sloping ceiling can take storage too.
The quote comes in writing, so there’s time to read it properly. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

What affects the price in Eastfields
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- The overall size of the piece
- How square the room is
- Parking near your home
- Spray painting or hand painting
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured.
Helping us understand the room
You do not need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, drop us a line using the contact form.
Walk-in wardrobes in Eastfields: local notes
About 43% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Eastfields went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 16% before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The National Heritage List records 8 entries within half a mile of the centre of Eastfields. Being near listed buildings doesn’t make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. About 43% of households in the area around Eastfields live in terraced houses, based on Census 2021. Terraced houses often have a narrow back bedroom and alcoves either side of a chimney breast, both good spaces for fitted storage.
If your home is one of the older houses near St. Mark's Church, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For a family home near St Mark's Church of England Academy, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.

Is it time for walk-in wardrobes?
After a loft conversion or a change of layout, a room may be left without a clear use. A walk-in wardrobe is a popular way to use it.
People typically get in touch with us about needs like these:
- A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
- More space for clothes and shoes
- Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
- Hanging for coats, dresses and shirts
If you live near Figge's Marsh, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
Before you choose who makes it
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- How doors and drawers are fitted
Questions we are often asked
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Eastfields?
Yes, Eastfields is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Merton and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Eastfields?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be part of a bedroom?
Yes, if there’s enough space. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, open or behind doors. A new partition wall is building work, so that is for your builder.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
In many homes, yes. We can line a small room with hanging, shelving and drawers, while leaving space to stand and turn. We check the room during the design visit.
How much does a walk-in wardrobe cost?
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The size of the room, the layout and the finish all make a difference. For a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
What if my walls and floors are out of level?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.

Fitting day, step by step
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made in our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.
- You let us know about the room and what you want to store, from long coats to shoes.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers.
- We send a quote in writing with the design, materials and finish.
- We build everything in our workshop.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. We then check the doors and drawers with you.
How to prepare
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you’re ready, fill in our short enquiry form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.
