About our wall beds in Dagenham Green
A wall bed needs clear space in front of it to fold down, so we plan the layout with that in mind. We think about where a chair, rug or desk will go, so the bed can come down without a shuffle. If you’re living with somewhere comfortable for guests to sleep and a bed that looks like cupboards by day, wall beds made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.
Bedrooms in interwar houses often have a picture rail but a plainer ceiling than a Victorian room, which makes it simple to take fitted furniture up to the ceiling. Around Dagenham Green, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses are a big part of the housing, the top cupboards can hold suitcases and spare bedding. The skirting is scribed around rather than removed.
The quote comes in writing, so there’s time to read it properly and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

How we price wall beds
To work out the quote, we look at:
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Parking and unloading on your street
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Getting in touch
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- What the furniture needs to hold
Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you are ready, drop us a line using the contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.
What wall beds cannot fix
Not everything around wall beds is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Structural work to the wall or floor
- Mattresses, which you choose to suit the mechanism
- Advice on your lease
Not sure whether your space suits wall beds? You can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll tell you. How it works.

From workshop to your room
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving the room tidy. How long fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You tell us about the room and who the bed is for.
- At the design visit we measure the room and check the wall and floor, as the bed must be fixed securely.
- A quote follows, setting out the design and finish.
- The bed housing and any shelves are built in our workshop, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home, with the mechanism fixed as its maker specifies.
Preparing the room
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
Ask for a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.

FAQs: wall beds in Dagenham Green
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Dagenham Green?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Do you make wall beds for homes in Dagenham Green?
Yes. Dagenham Green is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Barking and Dagenham and London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
How much does a wall bed cost?
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The bed size, the cabinet and any storage around it all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Is a mattress included with the wall bed?
The mattress needs to suit the mechanism by size, depth and weight. We will go through those limits during the design visit so you can choose one that works.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
How is the furniture painted?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.

Is it time for wall beds?
Others want the bed to be part of a wider storage wall. Shelves, cupboards or a desk built around it make the whole wall useful.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- A real mattress for visitors
- A flexible room for a growing family
- Storage built around a fold-down bed
- A bed that fills a little-used room
Rainham Hall, about 1.9 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind wall beds is part of the design.
