Wall beds for homes in Feltham

The mattress has to suit the mechanism, because the mechanism maker sets limits on size, depth and weight. We will talk through what suits the bed during the design visit, so you can choose a mattress that works. We make wall beds from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a studio that works by day and night and hiding the bed when it’s not in use.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Feltham, the spare room may be the small one at the front, over the hall and stairs. Small rooms like that suit wall beds, whether the room is a guest room, a dressing room or a study. Nothing is assumed: the room is measured wall by wall.

A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

A normal bed has nothing to fix to the wall, which is a fair point in its favour. Where the room needs to be more than a bedroom, a wall bed earns its place day after day. Off-the-shelf units come in set widths, so a run along a wall usually ends with a gap, which fitted furniture avoids. It can also go up to the ceiling rather than stopping short.

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

What you get with us

Fitting day, step by step

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. First, you let us know about the space. Mention who the bed is for.
  2. The design visit covers measuring, the wall and the layout. What the wall is made of matters, as the bed has to be fixed securely.
  3. A written quote is sent to you, setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The wall bed is fitted in your home.

Before we arrive

Ask for a quote

A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. To send them, send us a few details through our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Advice

When is bespoke worth it?

Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Wall beds in Feltham: local notes

About 36% of the homes in the streets around Feltham went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 22% between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Near the centre of Feltham, Historic England’s list includes Red Lion Inn (Grade II), under half a mile south-east, and Feltham House (Grade II), under half a mile south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If your home in Feltham is on or near a main road, tell us at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.

For an older house near Christ Church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where wall beds go. Living in a block of flats near Feltham station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If your children go to St Lawrence Catholic Primary School or a school nearby, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

Common questions about wall beds

Do you cover homes near Feltham station?

Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Feltham?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room.

Should I send pictures?

Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, particularly with rough measurements. You can send them when you send us a few details through our contact form.

Do you move sockets or add lighting?

No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

That’s normal in older homes, and it’s what scribing is for. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.

What we don’t do

We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Strengthening or rebuilding a wall
  • Making good the walls after other work
  • Getting consent under your lease

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.

What goes into it

Flats, conversions and lettings

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the measuring visit.
