Wall beds for your home in Brentford

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

A bespoke wall bed takes more planning than buying a unit online. What you get is one design that suits the room and the way you use it. Newer homes often have compact rooms where standard furniture leaves tricky gaps, while fitted furniture is made to the room. It works around service boxing too.

In London, parking can affect the price. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan for it.

Why choose us

About our wall beds in Brentford

A home office that doubles as a guest room is a common request. We can design a wall with a fold-down bed and a desk or shelving around it, without the bed taking over. Cable routes for the desk can be planned in, while new sockets are for your electrician. We make wall beds from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and people most often get in touch about a bed that looks like cupboards by day and a bed that fills a little-used room.

Bedrooms in homes built since 2000 sometimes have big windows that take up much of a wall, which leaves fewer walls for storage. That’s worth planning for around Brentford, where many homes date from 2000 onwards, so we make the most of the walls you have. Corners are designed in rather than left as dead space.

Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made at our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

Flats, leases and landlords

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, often to make the most of a small or awkward room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t give advice on leases.

Bedrooms in Brentford: local notes

Homes built since 2000 make up about 38% of the housing in the streets around Brentford, with about 23% built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The St Paul's Brentford Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Brentford. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Purpose-built flats are home to about 55% of households in the neighbourhood around Brentford, based on Census 2021. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.

Near listed buildings like Church of St Lawrence, about 0.5 miles south-west of the centre of Brentford, older homes may keep original joinery that wall beds can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Kew Palace, about 0.5 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where wall beds go. For a family home near St Paul's CofE Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.

Questions from Brentford

Do you make wall beds for homes in Brentford?

Yes. Brentford is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Hounslow and London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.

What does a wall bed cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, storage and finish all affect the price. To arrange a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Is a wall bed safe for everyday use?

Safety depends on a secure fixing and sensible use. The mechanism is fixed exactly as its maker sets out, and you keep the space in front clear and children away while it moves.

Do pictures help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough sizes. To send them, message us from the contact page.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

Boards, parts and paint

Moisture-resistant MDF

The moisture-resistant grade suits cabinets on cooler external walls, with ventilation allowed for.

Spray-painted finish

For a sleek front, spray painting works well and is finished before it reaches you.

What happens on fitting day

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Newer homes often have finished floors, painted walls and new doors that mark easily, so everything on the way in is covered before the sections arrive. Door frames and corners get covers too. Once inside, the pieces are joined in place.

  1. To begin, tell us about the room on our contact form; a brief note on the room and how often guests stay is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure up, look at the wall and floor and make sure there’s clear space in front to lower the bed.
  3. You receive a quote in writing for the wall bed and any storage.
  4. The bed housing and any shelves or desk are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinet in your home and fix the mechanism as its maker specifies.
  6. We go through the bed with you; the cabinet has the spray-painted or hand-painted finish you chose.

Preparing the room

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone

Getting a quote

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

What we don’t do

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers
  • Decorating around the cabinet
  • Building work to make a wall sound

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.
