The problems walk-in wardrobes solve

Others want a dressing table built in alongside the storage. A dressing table with drawers and a mirror can sit within a walk-in wardrobe next to the hanging and shoe storage.

Walk-in wardrobes can help with:

  • Shelves for shoes and bags
  • Room for two wardrobes in one space
  • A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
  • A walk-in wardrobe within the bedroom

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Red Lion Inn, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.

How to choose a carpenter in London

Walk-in wardrobes in Feltham

You can have doors, open storage or a mix. Doors give a tidy, finished look and help keep dust away, and open rails make it quick to find things. The choice is yours, and we will go through it when we measure. If your home has somewhere for shoes to live and more space for clothes and shoes, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Around Feltham, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. If yours is a 1920s or 1930s house, the box room over the stairs is a classic spot for fitted furniture. The main bedroom may have a bay at the front and a chimney breast on the side wall.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

Why bespoke in Feltham?

Fitted storage stays with the house when you move. How long you’ll stay is worth weighing up before choosing fitted. Even in a 1930s house, walls and floors aren’t perfectly true, and standalone units can lean or gap. Fitted furniture is scribed and levelled on site.

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Why choose us

  • Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Over 300 projects completed
  • Scribed to uneven walls
  • Made for your room, not a standard size

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Feltham

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Feltham?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

Do you cover homes near Feltham station?

Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Does my lease affect fitted furniture?

Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some need consent for alterations. Your lease is something we can’t advise on, so check it or ask your managing agent.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Do I need permission in a conservation area?

Not normally. Inside a house, fitted furniture doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for works that affect their character, so check with the council first.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the design visit.

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Feltham

About 36% of the homes in the area around Feltham went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 22% between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Feltham. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your street in Feltham joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.

If your children go to St Lawrence Catholic Primary School or a school nearby, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. Close to Hounslow Heath? Keeping walk-in wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.

What happens on fitting day

In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a 1920s or 1930s house, the hall and stairs are typically simple, though we still measure the route in not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You tell us about the room and what you want to store.
  2. We visit to measure up and go through the layout, including any dressing table.
  3. A quote follows, setting out the design and finish, ready for you to check.
  4. We build everything in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room. We then check the doors and drawers with you.
