About our bespoke kitchens in Brimsdown
We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken at the design visit, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you before anything is made in our workshop. Most enquiries start with a painted kitchen in a colour you choose and tall larder storage; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
An island needs space around it to work, and not every kitchen has that. Around Brimsdown, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, and some of those kitchens have been opened up enough to take one. We check the clearances during the design visit, along with where water and power would need to reach. Services to an island are for your plumber and electrician.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, its materials and its finish.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Brimsdown
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Brimsdown?
Yes, we work across Enfield, Brimsdown included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
Do you supply the worktop and appliances?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.
Do pictures help?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Can I have a kitchen island?
If there’s enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we measure for it at the design visit. If the room is narrow, we will suggest other layouts.

Practical tips
The finish lasts best with a little care. Here are our suggestions:
- Choose your appliances before the design is final
- Measure the route into the kitchen
- Think about how you cook and what you store
- Share the layout with your other trades
Follow the appliance makers’ guidance for your oven, hob and dishwasher, and the care advice for your worktop.
Line up your other trades in good time. The pipes, cables and gas supply need to suit the layout, and it is easier when everyone works from the same design.
Is it time for bespoke kitchens?
In a flat, the kitchen may share a wall with the living space or sit in a narrow galley. We can design for a galley, an alcove or a corner, so every run is used.
People typically get in touch with us about things like these:
- An island where space allows
- A kitchen for a room that isn’t square
- Making the most of a galley kitchen
- A kitchen finished in your colours
If your home is one of the older houses near Ss Peter and Paul Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
What to check before you book
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Standard cabinets come in set widths, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Bespoke cabinets are made to the room’s real sizes, so the runs can fill the space properly. Walls in interwar houses are straighter than in older ones, but rarely perfect, so standalone furniture can still lean or leave gaps. Built-in pieces are adjusted to the room on site.
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

How fitting day works
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- We start with how you use the kitchen and what isn’t working.
- At the design visit we measure the room and go through the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- The units are made and finished in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.
