Bespoke kitchens for your home in New Southgate

How we make bespoke kitchens for New Southgate

A bespoke kitchen is built around the room you have. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken during the design visit, so there are no filler panels covering tricky gaps. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you, and the kitchen is made at our workshop before it’s fitted. If you’re living with an island where space allows and a larder for food and small appliances, that is what kitchens are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Whether your home in New Southgate is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, the kitchen starts from the room’s own measurements. Your choice of worktop, sink and appliances is designed in. Other trades do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in New Southgate

Is parking a problem for fitting in New Southgate?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in New Southgate?

Yes. We cover all of Enfield and the rest of London, and New Southgate is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need someone to let us in. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.

Can you build an island in my kitchen?

Where space allows, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we check this at the measuring visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.

Materials and finishes

Moisture-resistant MDF

Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets warm and steamy.

Larder and dresser units

They’re a good way to use an alcove or the end of a wall.

Caring for painted furniture

None of this takes much effort. What we’d suggest:

  • Deal with damp walls first
  • List what needs a home in the kitchen
  • Know your appliance sizes early
  • Treat new paintwork gently at first

The appliances you have chosen come with their own care instructions, and the worktop you chose will have its own care advice too.

Talk to your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer early. Their work and ours need to fit together, so it helps if everyone knows the plan.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens

At the end, we tidy up. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, each piece is fitted to the room’s own walls, with scribing where they wander and packing where floors dip. Hand painting can happen on site, while spray-painted pieces come ready from the workshop.

  1. First, you tell us about the room.
  2. The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout, where space allows.
  3. A written quote is sent to you.
  4. The kitchen is built in our workshop.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager

Ask for a quote

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Is bespoke worth it?

A bespoke kitchen takes more planning than picking units from a range. What you get is a kitchen planned around how you cook and live. Off-the-shelf furniture comes in set sizes, and real rooms rarely match them, which leaves gaps at the sides and wasted space on top. Fitted furniture is made to the room.

Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking during the design visit.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in New Southgate

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. A larger piece means more material and more time. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

What to send when you get in touch

When you contact us, these help most:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Approximate measurements of the space

To make a start, message us from the contact page and let us know which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Bespoke kitchens in New Southgate: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around New Southgate were built before 1919 (about 27%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 26%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Part of New Southgate is in a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Planning controls in conservation areas are mainly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitting furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need permission. The council can confirm if you’re not sure. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Enfield sets its own rules. If your road in New Southgate falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

Near listed buildings like Arnos Grove Underground Station, less than half a mile north-east of the centre of New Southgate, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. If your home is one of the older houses near St Paul's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Close to O. R. Tambo Recreation Ground? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.
