Bespoke Kitchens in Enfield Chase

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on bespoke kitchens in Enfield Chase starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Enfield Chase station?

Yes. We cover all of Enfield and the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Enfield Chase?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?

Normally not. Inside a house, fitted furniture does not normally need planning permission. If the building is listed, works affecting its character may need listed building consent, so ask the council’s conservation officer.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a written quote.

Bespoke kitchens in Enfield Chase: what you get

We often use moisture-resistant MDF in kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well. Cabinets are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in colours agreed with you. Most enquiries start with cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls and open shelves with cupboards below; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Whether your home in Enfield Chase is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, a bespoke kitchen starts with measuring the room. Your choice of worktop, sink and appliances is designed in. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Before and after fitting day

Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it’s worth looking after. A few pointers help:

  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Check there is room around an island before planning one
  • Make a note of what you use every day

Follow the appliance makers’ guidance for your oven, hob and dishwasher, and the care advice for your worktop.

Think about how the cabinets will get in. We make the cabinets in sections that fit through the doors and up the stairs, so let us know about any narrow spots.

Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Enfield Chase

Others want the kitchen to suit the age of the house. A painted kitchen with a dresser can feel at home in an older room and look as if they belong.

Some of the things we are asked to solve include:

  • More storage in a small kitchen
  • Tall larder storage
  • A kitchen for a room that isn’t square
  • A layout for a small or tricky room

For an older house near Church of St Mary Magdalene, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout.

Before you choose who makes it

  • How the doors are hung and adjusted
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
  • How they’ll get the furniture into the room

Flats, conversions and lettings

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, often to make the most of a small or awkward room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

Fitting day, step by step

Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. It helps to clear the room and the route in before fitting day, including anything on the walls near the work. We cover floors and doorways first. Sections are then carried in and assembled.

  1. First, you tell us about the kitchen you have and the one you want. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. We visit, measure the walls, floor and ceiling, and go through the design, including where the sink and appliances will go.
  3. A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made and finished in our workshop.
  5. The kitchen is fitted in your home, and your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer do the plumbing, electrics and gas.

Preparing the room

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone

How to get a quote

It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, particularly with rough sizes. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

For painted cabinet fronts, moisture-resistant MDF is our usual choice, because it is stable and smooth.

Kitchens in Enfield Chase: local notes

In the streets around Enfield Chase, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 27%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 25%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Part of Enfield Chase is in a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Parking controls in London are set borough by borough, so Enfield has its own. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Let us know what the parking is like at the measuring visit.

Near listed buildings like Church of St Mary Magdalene, less than half a mile south of the centre of Enfield Chase, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For a flat near Enfield Chase station, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
