How we make bespoke kitchens for Enfield

We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so there are no filler panels covering tricky gaps. You decide the layout, the storage and the colour with us before anything is made at our workshop. Most enquiries start with a kitchen finished in your colours and an island where space allows; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
  2. The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout, where space allows.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you.
  4. Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics. It’s useful to have those trades booked in good time.

What goes into your quote

We do not publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Arranging a design visit

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Made-to-measure kitchens across Enfield

We make bespoke kitchens for homes across Enfield, in Edmonton, Palmers Green and New Southgate and beyond. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician. Your quote sets out the materials and the finish.

In Enfield, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 35%) and before 1919 (about 23%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Around a third of the homes in Enfield (about 35%) date from between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Interwar houses often started with a small kitchen that has since been extended or opened up, so the cabinets are made for today’s layout. Of the 26 places we have local pages for in Enfield, 26 have their centre inside a conservation area, going by Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission.

In London, the route into a home matters as much as the room, so we look at both at the measuring visit.

Edmonton: Near listed buildings like Lamb's Cottage, less than half a mile north-west of the centre of Edmonton, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. If your children go to Brettenham Primary School or a school nearby, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Honest limits

Some parts of a job need another trade, like an electrician, a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:

  • Gas work, which is for a Gas Safe registered engineer
  • Structural changes to the room
  • Plastering, tiling or decorating

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

There is no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:

  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • The width and height of the space
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Parking and unloading on your street

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Before the design visit

A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:

  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit for you to look over. To arrange the visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Boards, parts and paint

Plinths and scribe strips

A plinth hides adjustable feet and lets the cabinets sit level. Scribe strips follow the wall.

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be done on site after fitting. It’s easy to touch up later.

Do you need bespoke kitchens?

People also want a kitchen that’s built to last and can be repainted, which suits a long-term home. Hand painting is simple to touch in or refresh over the years.

Here’s what bespoke kitchens can help with:

  • Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
  • A kitchen that fits an uneven room
  • More storage in a small kitchen
  • A kitchen planned around your appliances

Questions we are often asked

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Does fitted furniture need planning permission?

Not normally. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for works that affect their character.

How are bespoke kitchens priced?

Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. For a design visit, use our contact form.

Can I choose my own worktop and appliances?

The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.

Do I need the building owner’s consent?

Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations, including fixing furniture to the walls. Check your lease, as we cannot advise on it.

Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?

Yes, it is something we deal with all the time. Few walls in a period house are straight, so we scribe and level every cabinet.

How much time does fitting need?

The time the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
