Bespoke kitchens for your home in Duckett's Green
How we make bespoke kitchens for Duckett's Green
A dresser brings a traditional feel to a kitchen, and it suits many period homes. Each dresser is made for its wall and finished to match the rest of the kitchen. If your home has open shelves with cupboards below and spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets, kitchens made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
With a large share of homes around Duckett's Green built before 1919, many kitchens still have a chimney breast, which can be built around rather than fought. A blocked chimney still needs ventilating, and any damp is sorted before cabinets go against it. Other trades handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.
The furniture is made at our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Questions from Duckett's Green
How do you fit bespoke kitchens in a flat in Duckett's Green?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Kitchens are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Hornsey station?
Yes, homes across Haringey and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
We plan the kitchen around the worktop, sink and appliances you choose. Knowing their sizes early helps, and the quote confirms what’s included.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.
Will a bespoke kitchen suit my uneven floor?
Yes, that’s part of the job. Few walls in a period house are straight, so we scribe and level every cabinet.
What are the kitchen cabinets made of?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Flats, leases and landlords
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it during the design visit.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, once we have measured the way in.
What happens on fitting day
Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a period home, the furniture is fitted to walls that aren’t straight, so there’s some trimming and adjusting on site. Floors are protected, and dust is kept down as far as possible. Parking can be tight on terraced streets, so tell us about permits and bays at the design visit.
- You contact us about a bespoke kitchen.
- We visit to measure and talk through the layout and the finish, spray-painted or hand-painted.
- A written quote follows, with the finish agreed.
- The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
- The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician.
Before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
Arranging a design visit
Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, message us from the contact page and tell us about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.
Advice
When you need someone else
Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Connecting a gas hob or cooker
- Wiring for appliances and lights
- Structural changes to the room
If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room. How it works.
Boards, parts and finishes
- Larders and dressers
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hand-painted finish
- Spray-painted finish
- Birch plywood
- Islands where space allows
Duckett's Green homes and bespoke kitchens
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Duckett's Green were built before 1919 (about 62%) and since 2000 (about 12%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Duckett's Green, Historic England’s list includes The Salisbury Public House (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south, and Church of St John the Baptist (greek Orthodox) (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles west. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If your home is on or just off a main road, it is useful to mention it. We can then plan where the van will stop.
For a family home near St John Vianney RC Primary School, a drawer set aside for lunch boxes and water bottles keeps mornings calmer. If you live in a flat close to Hornsey station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. The wider area includes historic houses like Bruce Castle, about 1.2 miles north-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.

What it costs
What you pay depends on:
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Parking and unloading on your street
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The internal fittings
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, and that’s part of the price. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space.
What we need to know
There’s no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Examples of the look you are after
- How you want to use the space
- Where you live, with the postcode
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, then send a quote in writing. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
