Bespoke Kitchens in Harringay

In Harringay, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. We design your kitchen at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • A pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers
  • Room for everything in the kitchen
  • Cabinets built around the appliances you choose

Caring for painted furniture

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
  • Make sure an island will not crowd the room
  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Think about how the cabinets will get in

Hand-painted kitchens are easy to touch up. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth. It is worth keeping a record of the colours used.

It helps to know which appliances you want early. Their sizes shape the cabinets, so late changes can be tricky.

Islands work well in kitchens with room to walk around them. There needs to be enough clear floor around it to open doors and move about, because a cramped island makes a kitchen harder to work in. Where space is tight, a peninsula or a longer run may suit better. People usually come to us about an island where space allows and cabinets built around the appliances you choose, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Sash windows and back doors to the garden are common in older kitchens. With a large share of the homes around Harringay built before 1919, the cabinets are planned around the windows and doors you have. The sink position is agreed with your plumber. The worktop, sink and appliances are your choice.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Where other trades come in

It helps to know what’s outside our work before you plan:

  • Building work, such as removing walls
  • Connecting a gas hob or cooker
  • Making good walls and ceilings

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

Boards, parts and finishes

  • Larders and dressers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Islands where space allows
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Spray-painted finish

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

Several things affect the price:

  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • The width and height of the space

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.

Before the design visit

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • How you want to use the space
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • Examples of the look you’re after

Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly during the design visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.

How it is made

Spray-painted finish

We spray paint in the workshop for a smooth, factory-like finish.

Birch plywood

Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters in drawers and shelves that carry weight. The edge can be left on show or painted.

Questions we are often asked

Is Harringay in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes, we work across Haringey, Harringay included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Harringay?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.

Does my lease affect fitted furniture?

Possibly. Some leases need the building owner’s consent before you make alterations, including fixing furniture to the walls. Check your lease, as we can’t advise on it.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.

What are the kitchen cabinets made of?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Kitchens in Harringay homes

In the neighbourhood around Harringay, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 75%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 8%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Harringay include The Salisbury Public House (Grade II*), less than half a mile north, and Church of St John the Baptist (greek Orthodox) (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles north-west. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. More than half of the homes in the streets around Harringay (about 75%) were built before 1919, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Kitchens in houses of that age often sit in a narrow back addition, with walls and floors that are not true, so each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site.

If you live in a period home close to St Paul's Harringay, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. If you live in a flat close to Harringay Green Lanes station, the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your children go to South Harringay Infant School or a school nearby, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off.

Harringay is within the London Borough of Haringey, about 2 miles north-east of Tottenham. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Harringay is part of that. Harringay is one of 23 places on our list for Haringey.

Design visits and fitting in N4, N15 and N8 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. You’ll find streets here such as Elyne Road, Denton Road and Warham Road, and we cover homes on all of them for bespoke kitchens. If you’re just outside Harringay, we also cover Duckett's Green (1 mile north), West Green (1 mile north-east), St Ann's (1 mile east), Manor House (1 mile south) and Seven Sisters (1 mile east). Elsewhere in Haringey, we also cover Tottenham (2 miles north-east), Bounds Green (2 miles north-west), Highgate (2 miles west), Muswell Hill (2 miles west), Fortis Green (2 miles west) and Northumberland Park (2 miles north-east).

Well-known places in the area include The Mall Wood Green (1 mile north-west) and Markfield Beam Engine and Museum (1.6 miles east). Open spaces near Harringay include Railway Fields.

What happens on fitting day

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days. On fitting day in an older house, the main job is scribing to walls and levelling on floors that slope, so each piece is trimmed and adjusted on site. Floors are protected, and dust is kept down as far as possible. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, as terraced streets are often busy.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
  2. The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you.
  4. The kitchen is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Getting a quote

We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
