Bespoke kitchens in Hampton
How we make bespoke kitchens for Hampton
We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so there are no filler panels covering tricky gaps. You decide the layout, the storage and the colour with us, and the kitchen is made in our workshop before it is fitted. We make kitchens from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the usual reasons to get in touch are extra cupboard space and spaces sized for your oven and fridge.
A good part of the housing around Hampton is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Many 1930s houses started with a small kitchen at the back that has since been extended or knocked through. A bespoke kitchen can be planned around the room as it is now.
You get the quote in writing, so there’s time to read it properly. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
Fitting day, step by step
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully and leaving everything tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
- We send a written quote setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician. We do not arrange these trades ourselves.
How to prepare
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Let us know about parking near your home

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Hampton
Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Hampton?
Yes. Hampton is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Richmond upon Thames and London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Hampton?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Do you do the plumbing and electrics?
No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and electrics by your electrician, and we plan the cabinets around their work.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.
Pricing bespoke kitchens in Hampton
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. The main factors are:
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- How square the room is
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- The number of doors and drawers
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking during the design visit.
What to send when you get in touch
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- Where you live, with the postcode
- The type of home and how the room is reached
A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, tell us about the room on our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
Kitchens in Hampton homes
About 33% of the homes in the area around Hampton went up between 1973 and 1999, and about 21% between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Within a mile of the centre of Hampton, 5 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Richmond upon Thames is no exception. If your street in Hampton is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. We ask about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
For a flat near Hampton station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. If you live near Carlisle Park, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.

Caring for painted furniture
None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:
- Let us know how parking works on your street
- Think about how you cook and what you store
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Give the paint time to cure fully
If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. A spray finish gives a smooth, even surface that wipes clean. Keep a note of the paint colours.
Think about how the cabinets will get in. We make the cabinets in sections that fit through the doors and up the stairs, so let us know about any narrow spots.
Is it time for bespoke kitchens?
People also want a kitchen that is built to last and can be repainted, which suits a long-term home. Hand painting is simple to touch in or refresh later on.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- A kitchen planned around your appliances
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
- A painted kitchen in a colour you choose
- Room for everything in the kitchen
If you live in a period home close to All Saints' Hampton, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Before you choose who makes it

- Whether you will get a written quote, not just a figure
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
