Bespoke Kitchens in Hanwell

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on bespoke kitchens in Hanwell starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.

  • Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
  • A dresser that suits a period house
  • An island where space allows

Bespoke kitchens in Hanwell

We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken during the design visit, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you, and the kitchen is made at our workshop before it’s fitted. Most enquiries start with spaces sized for your oven and fridge and a painted dresser for the kitchen, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Ceilings in homes built before 1919 are often tall, and around Hanwell, a large share of homes are that age. Kitchen cabinets can go higher, with tall larders and top cupboards for occasional things. Cabinets are made from moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, with the finish agreed in your quote.

The furniture is made in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Bespoke kitchens in Hanwell: local notes

In the neighbourhood around Hanwell, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 53%) and the years since 2000 (about 21%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for kitchens, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The National Heritage List records 11 entries within half a mile of the centre of Hanwell. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. All of London, Ealing included, is inside the ULEZ. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Hanwell is covered by it. We go through parking and access at the measuring visit.

For families living near St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen. The wider area includes historic houses like Pitzhanger Manor, about 1.3 miles east. For a period home anywhere nearby, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. Near listed buildings like Church of St Mary, about 0.5 miles north-west of the centre of Hanwell, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Hanwell is part of the London Borough of Ealing, about 1 mile east of Ealing. We design and make bespoke kitchens for homes in Hanwell and across Ealing. Hanwell is one of 19 places on our list for Ealing.

Here we cover the W7, W13 and UB2 postcode area for bespoke kitchens. If your home is on a street such as Park Road, Green Lane and Felix Road, or close by, we can arrange a design visit for bespoke kitchens. Hanwell is near the A4001, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. Neighbouring places we cover for bespoke kitchens include West Ealing (1 mile west), Ealing (1 mile east), Dormers Wells (1 mile north-west), South Ealing (1 mile south-east) and Pitshanger (2 miles north-east). Other parts of Ealing we cover include Acton (3 miles east), Greenford (2 miles north), Northolt (3 miles north-west), Acton Green (3 miles east), Bedford Park (3 miles east) and Acton Vale (4 miles east).

Before and after fitting day

Looking after painted furniture is simple. These habits help most:

  • Let us know about parking during the design visit
  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Make sure an island will not crowd the room
  • Line up your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer early

Wipe up spills and splashes promptly, especially around the sink and dishwasher. Moisture-resistant MDF copes well, but standing water is best avoided.

Measure the route into the kitchen not just the room. We make the cabinets in sections that fit through the doors and up the stairs, so let us know about tight turns or small lifts.

From workshop to your room

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. On fitting day, edges are trimmed on site to follow the walls, so a clear area to work in near the room helps. Dust is kept down and cleared up as we go. Where the finish is hand-painted, it can be done after the pieces are in.

  1. You tell us about the room and how you use it.
  2. At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout. We note where the water, gas and sockets are now.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are built in our workshop.
  5. Fitting day: we fit the cabinets, and your plumber, electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register handle the services. We do not arrange these trades ourselves.

How to prepare

  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

How to get a quote

A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you’re ready, drop us a line using the contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Hanwell

Will a conservation area stop me having bespoke kitchens fitted in Hanwell?

Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

My house in Hanwell is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?

Yes. Walls in older houses are rarely flat or square, and floors are often out of level, so each piece is scribed to follow the wall and set level on a plinth or adjustable feet. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.

Can I choose my own worktop and appliances?

You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and the cabinets are made to suit them. Your quote sets out what’s included.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.

Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?

There’s a place for both. If the room is square and the budget is tight, a ready-made kitchen may do the job. Where the room is awkward, the house is older or you want a painted kitchen that suits it, bespoke is typically worth considering. Off-the-shelf furniture is made for flat walls and level floors, which older houses rarely have, so you end up with gaps, wobbles and units that don’t meet the skirting. Fitted furniture is scribed to the wall instead.

In London, parking can affect the price. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Let us know about parking during the design visit.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Hanwell

Several things affect the price:

  • The internal fittings
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension

There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Before the design visit

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Examples of the look you are after
  • How you want to use the space
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, use our contact form.
