Our fitted wardrobes across Ealing

We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. Doors and panels are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colour you choose. We then fit them in your home, setting them level on adjustable feet or a plinth. Most enquiries start with musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall and empty alcoves in the bedroom, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully and leaving everything tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the bedroom.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the doors and the inside with you.
  3. Your quote follows, with the layout, materials and finish set out, so you can see what’s included.
  4. Each section is built in our workshop to the room’s measurements.
  5. We install the wardrobes, hang the doors and fit the rails, shelves and drawers.

What goes into your quote

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, along with rough sizes. To send them over, send us a few details through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Fitted wardrobes for homes across Ealing

Homes across Ealing, Acton, Southall and Greenford among them, often have one bedroom that has to do two jobs. Fitted wardrobes can be planned so the room switches between them.

The biggest shares of homes in Ealing were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 30%) and before 1919 (about 28%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Around a third of the homes in Ealing (about 30%) date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead. 4 of the 19 places in Ealing with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, going by Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission.

We work across all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, and Ealing is part of that. Every job starts the same way, with a design visit to measure and discuss the design.

Ealing: If you live near Walpole Park, keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. For an older house near St Saviour's Church, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Flats, leases and landlords

Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls during the design visit.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there is a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you get in touch.

Materials and finishes

Spray-painted finish

Spraying in the workshop means the doors come to your home finished, in the colour agreed with you. Treat them gently while the paint cures fully.

Plinths and scribe strips

Scribe strips are trimmed on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It’s how a straight carcass meets a wall that isn’t straight.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Standard wardrobes cannot follow a slope. A bespoke wardrobe can be shaped to follow the slope.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • How doors and drawers are fitted
  • How parking will work on your street
  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
  • Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?

When is bespoke worth it?

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.

Practical tips

None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Think about whether hinged doors will clear the bed
  • Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need
  • Check the route into your flat, not just the room
  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall in advance

With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then. Clear anything that falls into it.

Keep any ventilation gaps clear, especially where the wardrobe meets an outside wall. Look out for a musty smell or spots on clothes and have the cause looked at early.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Do you make good the walls afterwards?

No. We don’t plaster or decorate. We finish the furniture itself, as set out in your quote.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, but it is useful to be around at the end.

How is the price worked out?

Size, doors and drawers, what goes inside and the finish all affect it. We send a written quote after the design visit.

Which is better for fitted wardrobes, hinged or sliding doors?

Both work well, depending on the space. Hinged doors open a whole section at once but need room in front to swing. We will help you weigh them up when we visit.

How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?

We plan the sections around the route into your flat, and the wardrobe is put together in the room. Tell us if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a written quote.

Where is the furniture made?

Each piece is made in our workshop for the room it is going into, then fitted in your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
