Ask about bespoke kitchens in South Ealing
Could you do it yourself?
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s typically a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.
Bespoke kitchens in South Ealing: what you get
Older London homes are rarely simple places to fit a kitchen. Few walls are flat, and floors often fall away from the walls, which shows up quickly along a run of cabinets. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet, so the worktop you choose can sit level. If you’re living with making the most of a galley kitchen and a larder for food and small appliances, that’s what kitchens are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
An older kitchen often has a sash window and a back door, which fix where things can go. Around South Ealing, where a large share of homes date from before 1919, the cabinets are planned around the windows and doors you have. Your plumber connects the sink where the design puts it. You choose the worktop, sink and appliances.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Is bespoke worth it?
Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, rather than ordering from a range. In return, the storage, layout and finish are designed for you. Off-the-shelf furniture is made for flat walls and level floors, which older houses rarely have, so you end up with gaps, wobbles and units that do not meet the skirting. Fitted furniture is scribed to the wall instead.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

Flats, leases and landlords
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls during the design visit.
Questions we’re often asked
Is South Ealing in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes, we work across Ealing, South Ealing included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details.
Does a conservation area in or near South Ealing affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Who chooses the colour?
You choose it. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you have chosen.
Can I have a kitchen island?
Yes, where there’s space. At the design visit we check the clearances around it, and suggest another layout if it would crowd the room.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.
Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?
Yes. Each cabinet is trimmed to the wall and levelled, so the worktop you choose can sit level. It is one of the main reasons people choose bespoke in an older house.
Fitting day, step by step
Once the main sections are fixed in place, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You contact us about a bespoke kitchen.
- At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
- A written quote follows, with the finish agreed.
- We make the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which suits kitchens and takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; a hand-painted finish is applied on site and is easy to touch up later.
- Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician; new paintwork needs gentle use while it cures.
Before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
