How we price bespoke kitchens
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:
- How big the furniture is
- How many doors and drawers there are
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
What we need to know
When you contact us, these help most:
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
- Approximate measurements of the space
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.
About our bespoke kitchens in St Paul's Cray
We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you, and the kitchen is built in our workshop before it’s fitted. We make kitchens from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the things people most often want solved are cabinets for a narrow kitchen and a kitchen for a room that isn’t square.
An island needs space around it to work, and not every kitchen has that. Around St Paul's Cray, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, and in an extended kitchen there may be space. The space around any island is measured at the measuring visit. Services to an island are for your plumber and electrician.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made ranges rarely include a larder or dresser that fits a particular alcove. Bespoke joinery can be made for the exact space, painted to match the rest of the kitchen. Doors, windows and radiators rarely leave a gap that matches a standard width, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To start, message us from the contact page.
Why choose us
- Every quote follows a design visit
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood

Made-to-measure kitchens in St Paul's Cray
In the neighbourhood around St Paul's Cray, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 54%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 18%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for kitchens, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The National Heritage List records 6 entries within half a mile of the centre of St Paul's Cray. Being near listed buildings doesn’t make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. More than half of the homes in the streets around St Paul's Cray (about 54%) were built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Post-war kitchens are often compact, so cabinets made to the room’s exact widths make the most of it.
For an older house near St Barnabas, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. For families living near Leesons Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. Near listed buildings like Church of St Mary, about 0.5 miles south-east of the centre of St Paul's Cray, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Flats, conversions and lettings
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we have measured the way in.
Questions we are often asked
Do you cover homes near St Mary Cray station?
Yes. We cover all of Bromley and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in St Paul's Cray?
Yes, St Paul's Cray is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Bromley and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough measurements. To send them, tell us about the room on our contact form.
What materials do you use for kitchens?
MDF for smooth painted parts and birch plywood for drawer boxes and shelves. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours you choose.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
How long will the kitchen take to fit?
It depends on the kitchen. The time the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote, so you can plan your other trades around it.
From workshop to your room
In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
